Jack Mendelsohn was born in Brooklyn, US, on 8th November 1926. He passed away on 25th January 2017 at 90. Jack Mendelsohn was a famous American animator, comic strip artist, and comic book writer. As a TV scripter, he had numerous credits. His writing credits include “Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In”, “Three's Company”, “The Carol Burnett Show”, and “ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Click to look into! >> Read More... .” He was an Emmy-nominated television comedy writer and story editor. Jack was a co-screenwriter on “Yellow Submarine” (1968), among other feature films. In 2004, he was honored by the Writers Guild's "Animation Writers Caucus" with the renowned "Lifetime Achievement Award."

His father worked as an agent for cartoonist-animator Winsor McCay. Throughout Mendelsohn's upbringing in Brooklyn, he was a significant fan of cartoonist Stan MacGovern's offbeat New York Post comic strip “Silly Milly.” “Silly Milly” had a significant influence on his cartoon style. Mendelsohn entered the Navy after dropping out of high school. After World War II, he contributed joke drawings to “The Saturday Evening Post” and other publications. According to Mark Evanier, Jack Mendelsohn died of lung cancer on the evening of 25th January 2017. He created the revolutionary comic strip “Jackys Diary” in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He was residing in Mexico City at the time. The comic started on 11th January 1959 and lasted until 1961. Several comics fans recognised the Sunday-only strip as one of King Features' most inventive and great humor strips.

Week after week, in his diary, Mendelsohn chronicled trips to the circus, fishing expeditions, visits to members of his extended family, and all sorts of other adventures that kids enjoy. Mendelsohn wrote in a childlike style, yet it was professionally illustrated in every way. Dell Comics reprinted the comic strips as Jacky's Diary. Later, the title was given an apostrophe. “Jackys Diary” was carried by King Features' “DailyINK” in June 2010. However, in 2012, the dairy was removed from the menu. Unfortunately, According to DailyINK's Archivist, they no longer hold the rights to print the strip. “IDW Publishing” published a hardcover book with the comic’s complete set in 2014.

Mendelsohn worked as a ghostwriter for various comic strips. He even contributed to comic books, most notably EC Comics' “Panic.” Jack Mendelsohn earned the “Bill Finger Award” in 2014. Mendelsohn's TV credits include “Beetle Bailey (1963), The Beatles (1965-1967), George of the Jungle (1967), The Abbott and Costello Cartoon Show (1967), Martin’s Laugh-In (1968-1969), The Jim Nabors Hour (1969-1970), Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1969-1972), and Will the Real Jerry Lewis Please Sit Down (1970).” She also worked for famous shows like “Groovie Goolies (1970), The Funky Fantam (1971), The Carol Burnett Show (1970-1971), The Roman Holidays (1972), The Flintstone Comedy Hour (1972), The Addams Family (1973), Speed Buggy (1973), The New Scooby-Doo Movies (1973), and Yogi’s Gang (1973).”

Mendelsohn worked primarily in every comics and animation convention in the second half of the twentieth century. But, he received recognition for “Jacky's Diary,” a bizarre comic strip that ran from 1959 to 1961. The comic is presented in a visual and faux-language children's manner, as the imagined, drawn diary of "Jacky Mendelsohn, age 32 1/2.” Mendelsohn always wanted to be a cartoonist. His father, Irving Mendelsohn, was Winsor McCay's film agent. Mendelsohn paid him several visits as a young man. Mendelsohn also paid a visit to his favorite local cartoonist, Stan Mac Govern. In compensation, he received an original "Silly Milly" comic strip. After serving in the Navy and dropping out of high school, Mendelsohn began his comics career as a freelance gag cartoonist. He worked for periodicals such as the “Saturday Evening Post.”
