Pandit Dattatreya Vishnu Paluskar was a renowned Hindustani classical vocalist born on 28 May 1921 in Nasik, Bombay Presidency. His father, Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, was a well-known Hindustani musician, and under his tutelage, a very young D. V. Pulaskar began his classical music training. He was considered a child prodigy, and his vocal abilities earned him fame from a very young age. Those close to him fondly referred to him as "Bapurao." Unfortunately, when D. V. Paluskar was only ten-years-old, his father passed away, leaving him without a mentor.

However, he was fortunate to be trained by famous Indian vocalists such as Pandit Vinayakrao Patwardhan and Pandit Narayanrao Vyas, and later, Pandit Chintamanrao Paluskar and Pandit Mirashi Buwa. With such guidance, D. V. Paluskar continued to hone his skills and soon became one of the most sought-after classical vocalists of his time. When he was fourteen, D.V. Paluskar gave his debut performance at the Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan in Punjab, further cementing his position as a prodigious talent.

Paluskar gained popularity among music lovers due to his unique style of presenting Raagas and beautiful renderings of Bhajans. He also recorded for All India Radio and many other LPs but avoided film music for fear of polluting his musical thinking and style. Paluskar only sang for two films as both had classical music-based scores - a duet with Ustad Amir Khan Ustad Amir Khan was a well-known Indian classical >> Read More... in Baiju Bawra and a Bengali movie called Shaap Mochan. Unfortunately, Paluskar died when he was 34, on 26 October 1955, in Mumbai, India, due to encephalitis. Despite his brief life, Paluskar left an indelible mark in Indian classical music.

History remembers him as a very modest and humble person who immersed himself only in music and never competed with any musician. Paluskar's legacy is a testament to his exceptional talent, dedication, and passion for Hindustani classical music. Even today, millions of music lovers cherish and admire his music, and he inspires aspiring musicians and vocalists.
