Abhishek Pattnaik is one of the co-founders at Out of the Box Production. He is a writer, director and producer, working on English and Hindi Theatre for the past 7 years. His plays are usually centred around situational comedies, almost similar to classic Indian and American sitcoms like Seinfeld. The portrayal of a 52-year old Professor in ‘Two Adorable Losers’, garnered him a lot of appraisal in the Theatre industry, with a tremendous rating from Bombay Times. He has directed and performed alongside theatre legends like Rakesh Bedi Rakesh Bedi along with Staish Shah can be termed a >> Read More... , Anant Mahadevan, Darsheel Safary In the annals of Hindi cinema, instances of stella >> Read More... , and few others. He has also acted in lead roles in TV serials like - Best of Luck Nikki, The Suite Life of Karan and Kabeer which was a direct remake of the classic ‘The Sweet Life of Zack and Cody’, and Yam Kisise Kam Nahin.

His parents are originally from Orissa and they shifted to Mumbai in the 1980s. He was born and raised in Mumbai. His father came from a joint family of five brothers and every year they used to go to Cuttack in the summer and winter holidays. This is where all his knowledge about the intricate details of the livelihood, mannerisms, surroundings and traits of the people gave him the vision to write the play. The Out of The Box Productions, that he co-founded with his friends Suketu Shah and Murtuza Kutianawala Murtuza Kutianawala is a Hindi actor popular for h >> Read More... , were all management students with little to no experience of how to do theatre work. All they had was a passion for acting and theatre, hence all 3 of them pooled 20000 each, which they had borrowed from their parents and decided to go ahead with the idea. Their first ever play ‘Little Did They Know’, was a genius meta-comedy based on their own lives, it was about a group of friends who take money from their parents to start their own theatre group and follow their passion.

Abhishek was mentored by veteran theatre artist Uma Narayan, who gave him different plays to read so that he can go on an write some material of his own. Abhishek claimed in an interview, that after the first 3 plays that they performed, the crowd started to get bigger, and they could no longer take it for granted as people are paying to watch the shows, the three of them put their management degrees to good use and instantly started getting sponsors for the show, and that's how the inception of their group happened.
