PP Govindan

Govindan was a National Award-winning director. He was the first person from North Malabar to attend film school. Furthermore, he was a member of the Mumbai International Documentary Film Festival's Chief Selection Jury in 2010. His notable documentaries are the nature-themed Sarpakkavu, the Seventh Theyyamkettu dispute, tax fraud in the backyard, and films about the famous poet Ullur and actor Sathyan. He has also served as President of the North Malabar Film Directors Club, Secretary of the South Indian Cine Technicians Association, and State President of Grafti, the Pune Film Institute Alumni Association.

He received national and state awards for his documentary film 'Malbariyum Pattunoolum. During his final days, he worked on his new project, 'Samanwayam.' He was also the director of a few serials. He also produced nearly 40 documentaries. Kerala's history was the subject of his 20-hour documentary, which covered the time from Travancore's dominance until AK Antony's reign. His documentaries include Sarppakkavu, oruvilakku, and Veetumuttathu. Govindan passed away while working on Samanwayam at 68 in 2019. His last rites were performed in Mandoor.
