Recently, Poonam Pandey’s fake cancer death has sparked a raging debate in the online world. The alleged death of the 32-year-old actress was announced on her Instagram, stating that she bravely fought the cervical cancer disease. Many news outlets reported the “fake death news,” and some even made tributes for her. The following day, the actress posted a video and told her followers that she faked her death as part of a social media campaign to create awareness about cervical cancer. Pandey is also proud of what her “fake death news” has achieved.
Now, the actress and her husband, Sam Bombay, are facing a new battle after a lawsuit has been filed against them. Faizan Ansari, a Mumbai resident, accused the two of a “false conspiracy of death” and creating false news for their own benefit. Ansari stated that their actions not only betrayed the trust of many Indians but also defamed the Bollywood industry. The FIR urged the Kanpur Police Commissioner to take immediate action and issued an arrest warrant to the two.
While some people praised this kind of awareness, many have also criticized it and find it very insensitive for those who are currently battling cancer disease.
