It is heard that the Gandhis were not informed that their SPG cover will be removed and they have learned it through the media. It is also stated that the SPG is provided only to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
It is also stated that Rahul hadn’t used the SPG in many times and had traveled in non-bulletproof vehicles and even sat in the roof of the car. Their family had been given SPG protection since the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, the former Indian PM in 1991. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi tweeted on his official Twitter page, “A big thank you to all my brothers & sisters in the SPG who worked tirelessly to protect me & my family over the years.
