Plot

Sarah Jones, a high-class model in London, is found dead under mysterious circumstances. As the stakes are high, one of the investigating officers from the Metropolitan Police finds that the suspect has an eerie connection to a mysterious serial killer who has been missing for years.

Following the discovery, the officer, DCI Lisa Verma requests the police to re-employ Amar Singh Amar Singh is a politician from Uttar Pradesh. He >> Read More... , a former police detective himself. Star Performances

Santonio Terzio as the cinematographer does make this film visually appealing, if nothing else.

Despite the script's limitations, Jimmy Shergill and Ankur Bhatia do justice to their respective roles.

Analysis

Imagine a crime thriller without the thrills, twists everyone could notice from miles away, and a backstory of the villain that is more bland than British food. That is precisely 'Operation Mayfair' in a nutshell!

The script had nothing new, but the vision could have been. However, it seems that the director had taken inspiration from the wrong films. Who thought a mix of 'The Watcher' and 'The Girl on the Train' would be a fine recipe for a crime thriller?

The narrative of the film is anything but impressive. Some sequences are not just bad, they are bizarre, to be honest. Some films devote some time to showing the reason why the antagonist has taken the wrong turn. There is one in this film as well, only that it is nowhere near engaging enough. Maybe this is why Ankur Bhatia's performance does not seem up to the mark. Sadly, he is not the one guilty.

The background score is also quite bland, evoking no thrill or fear. Most of the scenes unfold rather too conveniently. For the performances, the less said, the better. Only Jimmy Shergill tried unsuccessfully to hold the flag aloft.

Verdict

'Operation Mayfair' is one crime thriller that lacks both the thrill as well as the edge of the edge-of-the-seat quality. Its loose narrative also prevents you from being engaged enough with this movie despite the brilliance of some actors. Watch it only if you have lots of time to spare.
