Hindi Movie Review Sonali Cable - Cast & Crew

Recently been appraised for his role in Sonali Cable, Rhea Chakraborty has been a fresh face in Bollywood industry. She is a VJ on MTV India. She was the runner up of the MTV India’s show TV Scooty Teen Diva 2009. She was then given the video jockey spot by MTV India. It was just because of his cool nature that she became the VJ for MTV India at a very early age. Besides being an actor in Bollywood industry, she has also made his presence felt in Telugu movies. In fact, her debut film was Tuneega-Tuneega directed by M.S. Raju.

In 2013, she made her Bollywood debut through Yash Raj films production movie Mere Dad ki Maruti directed by Ashima Chibber. She played the role of the female lead opposite Shaqib Salem. She has likewise hosted several shows aired on MTV India like gone in 60 seconds, Pepsi MTV Wassup, etc.  There were rumors of her dating Aashiqui 2 fame Aditya Roy Kapoor. Both were spotted together at various spots across Mumbai. However, their relationship didn’t work out and eventually they broke up. Recently, she has been signed up to play the female protagonist in YRF’s upcoming movie Bank Chor. She will work opposite Ritesh Deshmukh.

Her latest release was 2014 Bollywood movie Sonali Cable directed by Charudutt Acharya. She played a pivotal role in the movie. However the movie did not do well at the box office and was declared as a flop.

Smita Jaykar is a well known actress in Indian cinema that is prominently seen playing supportive roles. She was born and brought up in a Maharashtrian family and her native is Thakurdwar in Mumbai. The story revolved around a father daughter relation who believed in ethics and also where against woman who earn. The character of Smita Jaykar was about an understanding wife cum mother who does the upbringing of her children in a well and supportive manner. She was recently seen in a movie Sonali Cable which released in the year 2014. She played the antagonist role of mother of the main lead Ali Fazal in the Movie.

Roopa De Choudhary is a filmmaker, producer, and content developer based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She has studied Bachelor of Arts in Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, United States. She is the wife of a renowned Indian film director Rohan Sippy who is also the son of veteran Bollywood director Mr. Ramesh Sippy. She started her career in 1999 as an Editorial Coordinator at the Curious Pictures in New York. In 2001, she started working as a Production Coordinator for K2 Pictures and worked as a coordinator for Asylum (short film), Firesign Theater, and Pardons & Parole HBO Special.

Kamia Malhotra also known as Kamiya Malhotra was a popular TV star in the 1980s. Kamia was born on September 27, 1966, in New Delhi to ‘LK Malhotra’ and ‘Uma Vasudev’. For her schooling, she went to Modern School, New Delhi. In 1984, she made her first appearance on the big screen in “Aaj Ka M.L.A. Ram Avtar” starring “Rajesh Khanna”, “Shabana Azmi”, and “Shatrughan Sinha”. After the commercial success of the film, she was seen as a part of the first soap opera of Indian Television, “Hum Log” which first aired on July 7, 1984, on Doordarshan. Charudutt Acharya is a critically acclaimed Indian screenwriter and director. He has a graduate degree in film directing from the Film and TV Institute of India. He also holds a degree of MA in feature film screenwriting from the Royal Holloway University of London. Acharya is a renowned scriptwriter for television dramas and known for creating the Indian versions of Ugly Betty and Sesame Street. He is also vested in script writing for Indian cinema and has co-written two successful Hindi feature films. Acharya is extremely famous for being the writer and director of the Hindi movie, Sonali Cable (2014). He is also known to have written the script of the very successful Bollywood movie, Dum Maaro Dum, which was produced by Fox India in 2011. Acharya’s television endeavours began in 1999 with a show called Rishtey. On television, he is known to write scripts of shows based on social issues. Shows like Rihaee and Kadam are powerful dramas based on women's issues. A show called Haqeeqat, which played on television in the year 2002, used to be based on human rights. He also created the Indian version of the popular western show Sesame Street, which was called Galli Galli Sim Sim at 2008. His latest mainstream television project featured in 2010 called Crime Patrol.

Ramesh Sippy is an eminent film director and he is widely acclaimed for his classic Sholay, who was born in the year 1947. He is the son of yesteryear producer G P Sippy. Ramesh Sippy is wedded to Kiran Juneja, who is an Indian actress. At the age of 9, Sippy acted in the film Shahenshah. For around 7 years he took up the role of assistant director. During this time he took lot of effort to know about the nuances of the film industry. Later, during 1971 he directed the film Andaz, which didn’t do well. But luck favoured him in his next venture Seeta Aur Geeta which was very successful.  The year 1975 saw one of the best films of Indian history, Sholay, which was directed by Sippy.

Ali Fazal is an Indian actor who was born on 15th October 1986 in Mumbai. He is from a Muslim family. He attended The Doon School in Dehra Dun where he developed his passion for theatre. He started his career by working in the TV advertisement and working on the television screen and did advertisements for Pizza Hut, Micromax Mobile, Union Bank of India, Slice, LG and other advertisements. Along with the advertisements, he also did theatre named Prithvi In Mumbai. Rajkumar Hirani, the famous director, when attended one of Fazal’s performance, he decided to offer him a role is his movie which is the biggest hit named “3 Idiots”. Ali’s charming touch to the role adds an air of sympathy to the character of Joy. In this movie, he worked with actors like Amir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Madhavan. Ali made his place in the film industry and was picked up by the Shahrukh khan production house and he was made to cast in “Always Kabhi Kabhi”. Though, it was a major flop movie, Ali’s performance was praised by the audiences. After that movie, he played a lead role in a new movie “Fukrey”, which was a major hit and he played a lead role in that movie. Now he is working in many Bollywood projects and he also worked in a Hollywood movie titled “Furious 7”. Now he is working in many new projects and some of them are “Future 15” and “Ek Tho Chance”.

Raghav Juyal, a well known name in Indian TV industry came into limelight from Dance India Dance (a popular dance reality show of Zee TV), where he participated and introduced his slow motion style termed as Crock style to everyone which gained him a unique image in audiences and judges and gave him fame. Raghav was born on 10 July, 1991 in Dehradun. He did his studies from Doon International School and also pursued B.Com in DAV College. He also has a sibling Yashasvi. Raghav is a choreographer, dancer and an actor as well. He first participated in Chak Dhoom Dhoom telecasted on Colors TV and then in DID. He is termed as the King of Slow Motion and has a stage name Crockroaxz that is apt for his extraordinary dancing style. He was a finalist in Dance India Dance Season 3 before appearing in DID Little Masters Season 2 as a mentor and in DID Dance Ke Superkids as well. His team won the title under his leadership in DID Dance Ke Superkids. He is a perfectionist in his style and mesmerizes everyone with his breath taking dance performances.

Apart from his dancing and choreography skills, he has also done acting in movie Sonali Cable as Sada and was an integral part of the movie plot and currently he was working on newly released movie ABCD 2 sequel to India’s first dance based movie ABCD co-starring Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Dhawan. He has got appreciation from industry’s top choreographers like Remo D’Souza, Terence Lewis, Geeta Kapoor and Farah Khan even termed him as Wonder of the World. He was also reported to lose his calm on sets of Sonali Cable where he did beat cinematographer of the movie while shooting a music video. The matter was settled there only although the other person had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
