Plot

The film is about a transperson’s marriage. Bhanwar is a 35-year-old decent and simple man from a village in Rajasthan. He lives with his dominating uncle Bhairo who takes most of the decisions of his life. Bhanwar is unable to find a woman for marriage. Considering this, Bhairo decides to buy a woman for him.

Bhanwar sells his land, and Bhairo pays Rs 50,000 to a human trafficker to buy Sanwari. But they are unaware of her reality. The human trafficker deceives Bhanwar and his uncle and sells them Sanwari, who is not a woman but a transgender or intersex person.

After realizing this, they decide to keep Sanwari for household work and hide her identity since transgender persons are disrespected in society. But things turn soon. Sanwari’s sweet nature impresses Bhanwar, and they fall in love. But Bhairo does not consider this relationship as real. He only uses Sanwari to satisfy his own needs.

What tension will erupt between Bhanwar and his uncle Bhairo? Will the love between Bhanwar and Sanwari survive in this harsh, orthodox, and objectionable society?

Star Performance

Kanak Garg, who played the role of Sanwari, gave a fantastic performance. His helplessness makes the film realistic. His dialogue delivery and expressions are impressive. He tried his best to make the film engaging.

Sarthak Narula perfectly executed the role of Bhanwar. He is fluent and excellent at delivering his dialogues. From loneliness to love, he shows all the emotions in a balanced proportion.

Bhagwan Tiwari, who played the role of Bhanwar’s uncle, looks good on the screen. The way he dominates his Nephew and also cares for him is an interesting part of this film. The rest of the cast look decent in their respective characters.

Analysis

The film addresses a social issue – the rights and the status of the LGBTQ+ community. It reminds us how men and other genders can suffer from prejudice as women. It also highlights the unequal population and bride trafficking in India. The sweet love story between Bhanwar and Sanwari is the strength of this film. The lovely moments between them are the core of this film. The scene where Sanwari tells Bhanwar that she feels more secure inside the four-wall house than outside is heart-touching and emotional.

The cinematography is stunning. The beautiful sand dunes, sunsets, and the shades of Rajasthan add an aesthetic feel to this film. However, the film’s second half seems to be a little rushed. Overall, it is a must-watch film.
