Plot

Enthada Saji revolves around the life of Sajimol, who is initially portrayed as a spoiled brat. Sajimol is a stubborn girl and is often picked up for not being married at her age. One day, she hears a voice coming from Saint Roch’s statue near the chapel. She is curious and initiates a conversation with the statue. She pleads for him to come in front of her, but Saint Roch has one condition, she must attend mass every day. Sajimol obliges and as promised, Saint Roch comes to life for her.

Soon, they start meeting every day and talking about Sajimol’s life and her problems. He becomes her guiding light and helps her figure out solutions to the issues she faces. Sajimol’s old crush, Roy, is in town, and with the assistance of Saint Roch, she persuades him. Gradually, they both fall in love, and all this time Sajimol has started relying upon Saint Roch. Just when her life seems on track, Saint Roch’s statue is stolen and she can no longer see him. Desperate to get him back in her life, Sajimol embarks on a quest to find his stolen statue. On her journey, she unravels many secrets about the harsh practices under the pretense of faith.

Star Performances

Nobody is a divine thriller that focuses on the idea of how faith can change one’s life for the better. The main character highlights this idea, portrayed by Nivetha Thomas. Nivetha’s role required sheer determination and exceptional talent, and she ticks all the boxes. Her attention to detail for her role, the emotional dialogue delivery, and her heart-warming expressions, deserve all the praises.

Analysis

Enthada Saji is one of the rare movies that tries to highlight the importance of faith and religion in one’s life. Although the idea is commendable, the execution of it could be better. It tries to invoke the viewers with respect for faith and religion, something which is commendable in these times. Also, the actors are accurately cast and cater to the expectations of the audience.

The storyline has massive room for improvement, many scenes seem pointless and forced. Also, no distinction can be seen between the climax and other scenes. The characters are ill-written, and no concrete growth is depicted as the movie progresses. This movie had the power to influence the public but has faltered in doing so.

• The cast delivers many emotional and moving scenes.

• Execution of the plot could have been better.

• No clear character development is seen of the main characters.

Verdict

Enthada Saji was a good attempt of the makers to touch on many societal causes and impart a strong message. Factors like the weak storyline and poorly written characters upset the viewers. This film could be watched once, for mere curiosity.
