Plot

Each story has a unique story plot dealing with nine emotions. Edhiri has compassion as its theme. It deals with murder, confession, and forgiveness. Inmai has fear as its main plot, and it deals with supernatural power and a normal human. Project Agni has Wonder as the main theme. It is about a scientist and his dangerous invention. Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru is a love story between a 32-year-old Kamal and a 22-year-old Nethra. Summer of ’92 deals with laughter. It is about an actor, Velusamy, and his school days. Payasam speaks about the darker side of humans. Peace deals with an LTTE Soldier who tries to save a life. Thunintha Pin is about valor. It deals with a cop and Naxalites.

Star Performances

Vijay Sethupathi, Revathi, and Prakash Raj excelled in their roles. Surya and Prayaga’s romantic chemistry is excellent. Parvathy’s expressions are fantastic, and Siddharth has done a decent job. Not only Arvind Swamy and Prasanna are stylish, but their performances too.

Yogi Babu is good with his one-liners. Remya emoted well without any exaggerations, and her body language is good. Delhi Ganesh has done a fabulous job, and after a long, it is good to see the veteran’s performance. GVM and Bobby Simha fit well in the roles. Atharvaa, Anjali, and Kishore had given a decent performance; especially Anjali had given a splendid performance. Sreeram and Riythvika excelled in the given roles.

Analysis

Inmai also has a different plot with unexpected turns. Rathindran has driven the plot well. Vishal Bharadwaj’s music is awesome. Karthick Naren once again directed his heroes, Arvind Swamy and Prasanna. Shamna Kasim appears in a small role, yet she is good, and the script is different.

Gautham Menon once again proved his mettle in the romantic genre. Prayaga, the Pisaasu fame actress, is the right choice. She emotes well, and her romantic look is so cute, and Suriya joined GVM after Varanam Aayiram. Priyadarshan has chosen laughter as his genre in Navarasa and had given a good story with balanced actors. Payasam by Vasanth has good performance and excellent cinematography.

Karthik Subbaraj’s Peace is impressive. The way he dealt with the LTTE is really appreciable. Sarjun’s Thunintha Pin that deals with a pregnant wife waiting for her husband’s return, is interesting to watch. Arvind Swamy gets a distinction in his directorial debut. The star selection is neat and they didn’t disappoint him.

• Except for a very few mistakes, nothing is seen as odd

Verdict

All the stories in Navarasa have their own explanations. There are a few minus points in some stories. However, they don’t stop the interest in watching the stories. Navarasa – watch-worthy.
