Debesh Chattopadhyay is a renowned Indian personality known for his contributions to art, culture, and literature. He is a great actor and director of films and theatre and a famous author. In 1984, Debesh joined the theatre at the age of 18 and later became a full-time theatre artist in 1989 when he joined Shilpayan, a famous Bengali theatre group. Debesh Chattopadhyay acted in his first play in 1992, Manyobor Bhool Korchen, under another Bengali theatre group Ganakrishti. He also has been a member of the theatre group, Sansriti, founded on 9 February 1993. He appeared in numerous stage plays before entering the Bengali film industry.

Some of the notable stage works by Debesh Chattopadhyay are Agnibarshi and Hayabadana under Theatre Canvas, Bikele Bhorer Shorshe Phool, Brain, Nekre o Bhera, Dream Dream, Tetri Kahani, Chand Manasar Kissa, and Kothakar Choritro Kothay Rekhecho under Theatre Sansriti, and many more. He won numerous awards, like Best Playwright of the Year in 2002 by the West Bengal Youth Council, Best Play of the Year in 2010 by Sudrak for the play Dream Dream, Best Director of the Year in 2008 in 2009, Zee Gaurav Award for best production and writer Bikele Bhorer Shorshe Phool.
