Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao is an American-Cuban songwriter, and singer. She was born on March 3, 1997, to Sinuhe Estrabao and Alejandro Cabello. She was born in Eastern Havana, Cuba, and spent her early life relocating between Mexico City and Havana.
At the age of five, her family permanently moved to Miami, Florida. In 2008, Camila acquired her American citizenship. Camila is a vegan and takes strict care of her health. She had an intense passion and love for singing.
She attended the Miami Palmetto High School but left schooling when she was in ninth grade to pursue a career in singing. Latin music greatly influenced Camila. She cites Calle 13,
Taylor Swift, and Rihanna to be her inspiration. Camila's career began with the second season of The X Factor.
She got eliminated during the 'boot camp' process but was later called back to the show. Camila formed a group with her other contestants Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, and Dinah Jane. The group bagged the third position in the show.
The group then officially came out with the name, "Fifth Harmony." The group later signed a joint deal with Epic Records and Syco music. The group came out with their first album in 2013, titled, "Better Together." They later came out with "Reflection," in 2015; and "7/27," in 2016.
In 2015, Camila collaborated with Shawn Mendes for a single, "I Know What You Did Last Summer." Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the single as Platinum. In 2016, the singer released a single titled, "Bad Things," with Machine Gun Kelly.
Camila collaborated with "Fifth Harmony," and all their tours until she left the group in December 2016. Cabello featured on the list of "The 25 Most Influential Teens of 2016." In 2017, she worked jointly with Cashmere Cat, Norwegian DJ for a song titled, "Love Incredible."
In the same year, the singer recorded a song for "The Fate of the Furious: The Album," titled, "Hey Ma," in collaboration with Pitbull and Balvin. "Crying in the Club" was her first solo single released in 2017. Camila joined the tour for Bruno Mars' "24k Magic."
She also partnered with Guess, the clothing brand for their 2017 Fall collection. On August 3, 2017, Camila released her most popular solo so far, "Havana." The song reached number one in UK, Australia, France, and in various other countries. In 2018, Spotify announced "Havana" to be the most streamed song by a female singer.
In an interview, Camila told that the chorus of "Havana" came to her mind while having Sushi with Frank Dunes, producer. In January 2018, Camila released her first solo album titled, "Camila." In the same year, she embarked upon her first solo tour for "Never be the Same."
Camila has won various awards, some of which include, MTV Europe Music Award, I HeartRadio Much Music Video Awards, Billboard Music Award, iHeartRadio Music Award, and many more. In 2018, the versatile singer appeared in "Dancing on Ice," a television show.
Cabello even made a cameo appearance in Maroon 5's music video titled, "Girls like you." Camila involves herself in a lot of charitable projects. In 2016, she collaborated with "Save the Children," and designed a limited edition “Love Only” T-shirt. The partnership was to raise awareness regarding issues such as, girls’ equal access to education, health care, and opportunities to grow, and develop.
