He is an expert studio musician, and he has done recordings with many stalwarts of the Indian film industry. He has also performed solo at significant events within India and abroad, such as the Festival of Saint-Dennis in Paris and the Leicester International Music Festival in England. He has performed with the famous table player Ustad Zakir Hussain at the Aadi-Anant classical concert in Chennai.

He has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2007, he was honored with the Indian Music Academy Award, presented by the Honourable President of India, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. He also received the Aditya Birla Kalakiran Puraskar in 2008, the Guru Shishya award in 2011, IWAP-Pandir Jasraj Sangeet Ratna award in 2013, and the Pannala Ghosh Puraskar in 2013.
