Saumya Joshi is a Gujarati director, poet, playwright, and actor. He was born on 3rd July 1973 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. His parents are Jayant Joshi and Neela Joshi. He did his Bachelor’s degree at HK Arts College. After that, he completed his Master’s degree from Gujarat University. He started writing poems when he was in college, and his first poem was published in a popular magazine, Kavilok. His works are published in magazines like Kavita, Shabdasrishti, Shabdalay, Kumar, and Navneet Samarpan. In 2008, he published Greenroomma, his poem collection. He penned a lot of poems, and they are based on different genres, including Geet, Ghazal, Free Verse, and Nazm. He had also penned poems and plays related to the people whom he meets.

Saumya Joshi started his career as a professor. Saumya made his theater debut with Rami Lo Ne Yaar. Dost Chokkas Ahin Ek Nagar Vastu Hatu is one of his highly acclaimed plays. In 2003, he was listed in the 50 rising stars of India by The Week Magazine. In 2005, his play, Aathma Taaru Nu Aakash, was chosen to premiere at the Prithvi Theater Festival in Mumbai. In 2010, he founded a theater group, Fade-In Theater, with his friends. In the next year, he left his job to pursue his passion for theater. In 2007, Saumya Joshi received Yuva Gaurav Puraskar, and in 2008, he got Takhtasinh Parmar Prize. In 2013, he was honored with Chandravadan Chimanlal Mehta Award. In 2014, he was honored with Ravji Patel Award, Sadbhavna Award, and Balvantray Thakor Prize. In 2018, Saumya penned the dialogues and lyrics for the Gujarati film, Hellaro.
