Shruthi Mathur is a Writer for television at The Walt Disney Company. At Johns Hopkins University, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a concentration in International Media and a Minor in Entrepreneurship & Management. Her main passion is telling stories, whether she is doing it as a performer or writer, creating imaginary worlds from above. At age 16, she had her first byline and hosted her first TV program. She was a National Geographic Traveler for the Smithsonian Institute and is currently a journalist traveling the US covering the cultural and historic importance of our National Heritage Areas (akin to UNESCO World Heritage Sites).

She became the first female TV correspondent for stations in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reporting from the White House, the 57th floor of the Empire State Building, and the United Nations. She produced a Bollywood film that was seen in 100 different countries, created a sci-fi comedic adventure film that she sold to Nickelodeon, and starred in it. She started campus charities in high school and at Johns Hopkins and has volunteered for the American Red Cross for more than ten years. She traveled from St. Louis to San Francisco, providing inspirational lectures to young girls while serving as one of 8 Red Cross regional ambassadors and on the National Youth Council.

She recently participated in a UNICEF congressional delegation on Capitol Hill and spoke to schoolchildren worldwide at the annual UNICEF Summit. As a creative, energetic, and resourceful young lady, she is familiar with what it's like to have her goals and vision crushed. She encourages females to be proud of their perspectives and feel like the protagonists of their own stories. She created a piece about her experiences with scoliosis when she was 12 years old, and it has a lot in common with the problems that millions of women now battle with regarding self-worth. We are all heroes seeking redemption despite our struggles because those are the underdog tales that motivate us! We can't read the same chapter every night. Our narratives need to shift from "I could have done this BUT..." to "She accomplished this DESPITE..."
