Known for his work on Malayalam films, Lijo Jose Pellissery is a film director. He was born in Chalakudy in Thrissur district and is the son of the actor Jose Pellissery. He studied at Carmel High School and went to junior college at The Union Christian College, Aluva. He later studied at IPM, Bangalore and attained his Bachelor's in Marketing HR and Master in Business Administration. Because he came from a family with a cinematic background, he ventured into the industry by making short films. Akira Kurosawa, K.G. George, and Padmarajan are his idols. He made his directorial debut in 2010 with a crime movie titled Nayakam.

Although it received critical appreciation, the film did not do well at the box office. In 2011, he directed another film called the City of God. Another critical and artistic success, this one met with a worse fate at the Box Office than the previous one. His next film, called Amen, 2013, was a commercial success. It was novel regarding narrative style and also the treatment. His most recent film, Double Barrel, is a comic thriller, which received compliments as well as criticisms as it was a new genre to the Malayalam cinema. Lijo received the Asianet Award for Best Director in 2013, Atlas Film Critics Award in 2013 and Canada Film Festival - Feature Competition - Royal Reel Winner in 2014 - all for Amen.
