R Sarath is a creative and a gifted screenplay artist and a director. He is one of those directors in the Industry who are known for their unique films which go unparalleled in the cinema. His movies explore and exposes the complex parts of the social issues bringing in a new direction to the Malayalam Film Industry. This exceptional and nonpareil director was born in Vilakkudy, Kollam. R.Sarath has done his higher studies in the English Language. Through his formal training in Film Production and Journalism, he became the artist he is today.

He is married to Bindu and has two children- Abhijit Sarath and Abhiram Sarath. R.Sarath made his debut in his extraordinary journey with the movie Sayahnam. He was both the director and the screenwriter. His next Film ‘Sithithi’ explores the incursion of job and the difficulties faced by middle- class man. It was released in the year 2013 and had gained many positive reviews.

His 3rd feature Film ‘Seelabathi’(20030 deals with the serious issue of mysterious child disappearances. This movie too was welcomed in the cinema and was highly appreciated. It had also featured at the Asia Pacific Film Festival in Taiwan. R.Sarath also got the opportunity to direct the movie ‘The Desire: A journey of a women’(2011) which is an Indochinese production and is part of the Hindi Film Industry.

The movie was acknowledged all over the world with praise-worthy remarks. IT has also been starred at many film festivals like ‘The Geneva International Film Festival,’ New York International Film Festival,’ and Jaipur Film Festival.’ The movie is a beautiful depiction of a dancer and her journey from India to China. Some of his other movies which give us a grave understanding go the social crises prevailing in India are ‘Parudessa’(2012), Buddhanum Chapinum Chirikkunnd(2014), and Swayam(2017).

This eminent director currently serves as the Deputy Director at the information and Public Relations Department. He has also been a part of India’s first multi-media project- ‘Geet Govinda,’ which a work of great honour. Sarath has also been the director of IUKFT 2017 in London and the jury member for the national Film Awards in 2011. This incredible director has come a long way in his journey in the Indian Film Industry and has made India proud on several occasions with his outstanding work.
