Born on December 22, 1964, in Alappuzha, Kerala, Venu Nair is an International honor winning Indian screenwriter and short film director.He hails from Thiruvananthapuram. Venu completed his postgraduate degree at Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam. He finished his training in movie making at the Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK.

He is busy in the field of cinema media and TV since 1990. His manifestations number around 100 covering a wide range going subjects, for example, Panchayati Raj, Environment, Tourism, Culture and Heritage, Health, Anthropology, to give some ideas, and furthermore music and fiction. Amid his profession in this field, he has won the desired for UN FAO - OSIRIS International Award at the Agrofilm 2010 in the Slovak Republic for the movie “Digging Mercy.”

He got recognition at the 36th International Festival in International Recycling Fund Award of Sustainable Development Films, 2009 Eko top film in the Slovak Republic for the movie “Farming Our Future.” He also received Kerala State Television Award for the Best Director for the Science and Environment documentary for the same film in the year of 2009 organized by Kerala Chalachitra Academy and Government of Kerala. He got the National Award for the narrative "The Mythology of Aranmula Metal Mirror" for the Best Tourism Film of the year 2006-07 from the Indian Government and Ministry of Tourism.

He also received 6 State grants. The documentary also got a nomination for the Delphic Art Movie Award in 2011 at Berlin in Germany. His smaller than expected arrangement "Sethuvinte Kathakal" was an acclaimed work and got many honors. Venu risked reading a ballad on the artistic expression by poet O.N.V. Kurup while making a documentary on ONV. It roused Venu to incorporate the art into his narrative. Venu's first show in which he acted `Jataka Kathakal,' had won critical praise.

Afterward, while taking the stories of M.T. Vasudevan Nair and Sethu for TV, Venu was unique. The serial has just five scenes. Venu's most recent telefilm name `Aazhangalil Amrutham' is based on C. Radhakrishnan's works. He has finished a six-section narrative on calamity administration for the Institute of Land Management covering earthquakes, tsunami, lightning, flood, drought, and landslide. Currently, he is creating a narrative on seaside disintegration for the Center for Earth Science Studies.
