Prasanna was associated with the cinematographer Muthiah in the movie Poo. He made his debut in the movie Pichaikaran, directed by Sasi. After gaining experience with Muthiah in cinematography, he also worked in the film David, Haridas, and Nenokkadine as DOP. He also became the assistant director. He worked predominantly in the Tamil Film Industry.
