Ajayan Bala is an award-winning author, film director, and screenplay writer from Thirukalukundram, Tamil Nadu. He has written some fiction and non-fiction works in Tamil. He is the author of many short story collections and biographies. His book 'Ulaka cinema varalaru: maunayukam’ was awarded the Best book in the fine arts section by the Tamil government in 2007. He has written story and screenplay for various movies and has worked as an assistant director for some films.
He has directed one of the chapters in the horror anthology, 6 Athiyayam. One of his notable works is ‘Thalaivi,’ a biography of an actress turned politician J. Jayalalithaa. She was the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, who served for over 14 years and later died due to cardiac arrest. A biographical film has been made based on AjayanBala’s book ‘Thalaivi.’
