M. M. Manasi – The versatile playback singer, who started her singing career in the movies at the age of 9. She was born on 8th January 1993 and her native place is Chennai. She was trained for 15 years in Hindustani vocal. Though her hometown was Chennai, she was brought up in Mumbai. She started to learn the music at the age of 2. Her first performances were during the festivals such as Navaratri and Ganapathi Chaturthi. Her family encouraged her a lot, and good encouragement can go a long way. Manasi has mentioned her t parents' encouragement in a lot of interviews and stages. Her inspiration was K. Pop and Ilayaraja. She is not only a playback singer but she is also a dubbing artist. She finished her studies in the D. g. Vaishnav College in Management.
She can sing in 5 languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. She has sung more than 70 songs. In this short span, she has sung many super hit songs including 'Tamilachi' and 'Sottavala' in Puli. She was introduced to the Kannada movie, ' Drushyam' by IsaigyaniIlayaraja, . and in Malayalam, she was introduced by Vidhysagar. Even though she made her debuts in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam at the beginning of her career, she started singing in Bollywood more recently. Her debut song in Bollywood made her a leading singer in that industry. The debut song was 'Daddy Mummy' for the movie '
Bhaag Johnny'. The music was composed by
Devi Sri Prasad. This song was a huge success and got 20 million views on YouTube.
She worked as a dubbing artist for several blockbusters such as 'Kollywood- Baahubali', '
Thozha', 'Mari', 'Anjaan, Darling', 'Velainuvanthutavellaikaaran', '
Yaan', 'Thirumanamennumnikha' for the leading female characters. She also contributed and sung a lot of songs in Telugu such as 'Bhelpuri in Aagudu', 'Private Party' etc. She releases at least 2 to 3 songs a month. The year, 2015 was her peak period since she made several songs in that year and most of them were the big hits. She sang songs for the films such as 'Kaakisattai',' Puli', '
Shivam', 'Sakalakala Vallavam' and 'Kumari 21F'. She sang only a few songs in the year 2016 in films such as '
Sarrainodu' and '
Sardaar Gabbar Singh'.
