Meenakshi Ilayaraja

Meenakshi Ilayaraja is a playback singer from Tamil Nadu in southern India. Meenakshi, born in Olakurnu, a village near Dindivanam, has always been interested in music. Her parents, who were teachers at the time, encouraged her interest. She received her musical training in Carnatic Sangeet at Adyar Music College, where she also completed her teacher training. In 2012, when Carnatic Sangeet at Adyar Music College announced a vacancy for a voice lecturer, Meenakshi took up the job. Meenakshi’s husband Mr. Ilayaraja supported her passion for music. He even went to various studios to find an opportunity for her. When one day Mr. Tajnoor, a music director, offered her an audition as a folk singer to sing Tirukkuralaj.

It is there where she meets Antonidasan, Chinnapponnu, and Velmurugan, who was her junior in college. Along with them, she started attending concerts.
