T V Sankaranarayanan

T. V. Sankaranarayanan is a South Indian classical singer, born on 7 March 1945 in Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, India. He is predominantly known for his music that matches his guru and maternal uncle, Madurai Mani Iyer.

His singing skill made the audience crazy, and because of their support, he was awarded for Madras Music Academy's Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 2003. He teaches music to students, and his musical disciples include R. Suryaprakash, his daughter Amruta Sankaranarayanan and his son Mahadevan Sankaranarayanan.

In 1995, he sang at Trivandrum as part of Onam celebrations organized by the Government of Kerala. On 17 February 2017, he sings at Kanhangad in Kerala in Thyagaraja - Purantharadasa sangeetholsavam, and sings at N V Babunarayanan on Violin, Erickavu N. Sunil on Mridangam, Tripunithura Radhakrishnan on Ghatom.

He also sings in India and abroad and has released several music albums. His singing performance led him to win several prestigious awards like Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2003, Swara Laya Ratnakara by Ramakrishnananda Saraswati of Sri Vidyashram, Rishikesh in 1986, Gayaka Sikhamani by Bhairavi, the USA in 1981, Nadakanal By Nadakanal, Madras in 1987, Innisai Perarasu By Bharati Kalamandram, Toronto in 1981, Sangeetha Kalasikhamani by The Indian Fine Arts Society in 2005, Sangeetha Kalanidhi by the Madras Music Academy in 2003, etc.
