Bugata Venkata Subba Rao Subba Rao, also known as Vepada Subba Rao, is an I >> Read More... or B. A. Subba Rao was a film producer, director and screenplay writer of Telugu Cinema. Subba Rao was born in 1915 in India. He made his debut in Telugu Cinema as a director, producer and screenplay writer in the movie "Palletoori Pilla." The movie was a commercial hit and was loosely connected to an English play, “Pizaro” by Richard Sheridan. It was the first movie in which N. T. Rama Rao was the actor in the leading role. Later, the movie was made into a Hindi movie “ Insaniyat Click to look into! >> Read More... ” in 1955 directed by S. S. Vasan. He worked about four decades in the industry in his lifetime. He has worked in around 27 films. He got Raghupati Venkiah Award and also won a Filmfare Award for his dedication and hard work towards the Cinema.

He gave N.T. Rama Rao the first role of his life in his film as an actor. N.T Rama Rao, who later became a famous actor and a great politician started his career with Subba Rao's movie. The movie was a hit for both of them and Rama Rao earned good fame through it. In 1954, he made "Raju Peda" with N.T. Rama Rao and Sudhankar as leading actors. It was based on a novel authored by "Mark Twain" and was a remake of the Hollywood movie "The Prince and the Pauper." He was associated with a production house named B.A.S Productions and produced some movies like "Raju Peda, "Illarikam," "Chechu Lakshmi," and "Bhishma" under its banner. "Raju Peda" won Filmfare Best Film Award (Telugu) and was a big commercial hit in the journey of his career.

His other popular movies are "TinguRanga” released in 1952 in which he worked as a producer and director, "AadaBratuku” and “Shyamlala” in 1952 as a director, “Chenchu Lakshmi” which is based on the story of Hindu mythological character Lord Vishnu and his devotee Prahalad, “Illarikam” which was a silver jubilee film, “Bhishma” which was a movie inspired by Mahabharata character Bhishma, “BhaleThammudu” which is a remake of the Hindi film “China Town,” “Sati Anasuya” which was made on the life story of Anasuya, and many more.

After dedicating years of hardwork to the industry and giving some outstanding movies, B. A. Subba Rao finally bid a goodbye to this world and the industry forever on 13March 1987, but he is still alive in the hearts of people. The director had left an imprint for himself in the industry.
