Rizwan began his career as a radio news broadcaster on Radio Pakistan in 1953, where he worked for sixteen years. He was also a banker and worked at the National Bank of Pakistan as its Vice President till 1996. From the 1960s to the 1990s, Rizwan played different roles in Pakistani television serials.
