There have been a number of issues surrounding the cine field so far. It is to be noted that in a recent development, the entertainment tax was increased. Following the development, the PVR and INOX theaters were shut. Those theaters which were shut were opened yesterday. The Chennai Metropolitan announced that there is 10 percent of entertainment tax to the Tamil movies, and for languages other than Tamil, the entertainment tax has been hiked to 20 percent. It has been conveyed that the implementation of the tax would happen from September 27th onwards.
There was strong opposition against the levying of the multiple tax. The Indian multiplex associations, the PVR and INOX cinema theaters were closed the last 2nd. Now, in a development, it has been said that the theaters are reopening soon. It is to be noted that the announcement by the government to levy entertainment tax has sent across ripples of protest across the Tamil cine field. The producers council had decided not to release movies and now in a recent development, as the solution has been arrived at, the theaters have been reopened.
