. The film deals with a beautiful love story between an army pilot and a doctor. In the film, Karthi and his friends escape from the prison in Pakistan. This sequence is inspired by a real incident that happened in 1971. Dilip Parulkar, a flight lieutenant, was captured by the Pakistan Army along with his friends. They escaped from the camp in Rawalpindi, after few months. The incident has been written precisely by Ms. Faith Johnston in the book, Four Miles To Freedom. This is where Mani got the inspiration of the escape sequence! Although the film has mixed reviews, it is the Mani Ratnam’s romantic element that pulls the audiences towards the theaters!
