Plot
The most viewed television program in the entire world was the Miss World pageant that took place in London in 1970. The newly founded women's liberation movement gained instant fame by occupying the stage and interfering with the competition's live broadcast to argue that beauty pageants objectify women. What unveils further in the competition forms the rest of the film.
Star Performance
The film stars in many diverse cast. Keira Knightley nails it in the role of feminist activist Sally Alexander. Another standout performance was by Gugu Mbatha-Raw as a Miss Grenada contestant called Jennifer Hosten. The supporting cast, including Greg Kinnear, Daniel Tiplady, Kajsa Mohammar, and Jessie Buckley, also played the characters very well. All the actors were able to convince their complex characters which was a major ask for such a strong representation film.
Analysis
A movie based on a beauty pageant facing opposition from feminists. This truly sounds like an exciting plot and requires a strong ensemble cast. This was very well taken by all the actors who gave stellar performances, and the female representation truly stood strong. The movie delivers its interesting plot and takes you through an entertaining ride. Storytelling is done in a way where the story is broken into multiple parts, which helps view various forms and different sides but, at times, this also seemed irritating as those were not very well connected to form a centralized base. At times, it also felt the makers were playing a safe game like earlier feminist history films in not making the audience too uncomfortable with the topics. The complex themes touched by the film, such as inequality, sexism, objectification, and racism, shown with ease in an entertaining manner are commendable. But what lacks in the film is its comedy aspect which fails to keep going.

Verdict
The movie is surely worth a watch for its strong performances and the complex subjects covered but doesn’t expect it to be that perfect film.
