4. Anurag Kashyap

Born on 10th September 1972, Anurag Kashyap has established himself in Bollywood as a prominent director, producer, and screenwriter while even giving acting a try.  A born and raised Uttar Pradeshi, Kashyap had keen interest in science and aimed to become a scientist. In an interview Anurag said that he had no dreams of going into the film industry and had all hopes of pursuing Zoology. He went on to say, this all changed in 1993 after he watched Bicycle Thieves, an Italian film directed by Vittorio De Sica. The film inspired him enough to give us becoming a scientist and move to Dehli to become a filmmaker.    

Anurag got his first chance in the industry as a screenwriter for Auto Narayan when the initial script by Subramaniam was not working and Anurag was given a chance to rewrite it. He then wrote the screenplay for Jayate, a Hansal Mehta film, which was never released. Ram Gopal Varma was impressed by Anurag’s work in Auto Narayan and signed him for the screenplay and dialogue for his thriller, Satya. The film was critically acclaimed as one of the best crime, gangster movie of Bollywood. He then dabbled with production after some time with his director debut in Paanch. The movie faced trouble with the certification board due to the content not being suitable for all.  In 2012, he took on two ambitious movies in Gangs of Wasseypur 1 and 2, which received numerous awards and outstanding reviews. He recently produced and directed Bombay Velvet, which is currently in theatre and has received praise from critics.

5. Sunil Bohra

6. Manoj Bajpayee

Born on 23 April 1969, Manoj Bajpai is first a Bollywood actor, though he has acted in a couple of southern films. He has been appreciated by several critics for his good performances. His noteworthy performances were in the films Bandit Queen, Pinjar, Aks, Satya and Gangs of Wasseypur. He has got various Filmfare awards and also many National awards.

Manoj Bajpai is a graduate in history. Before entering into acting Manoj was a teacher. He tried his luck in theater, but was rejected four times. Later, he worked in a theater Barry’s Drama School. His acting career started with a serial in Doordarshan. Later he performed in a minute role in Dastak . He was the male lead in the film Dil Pe Mat Le Yar and went on to act in small roles in Bandit Queen, Droh and Kaal. Then it was Satya that helped him reach stardom. His acting skills gained wide recognition; he was credited with several awards for this role. In this film he acted as a gangster. He also received various awards for Aks. Shool, Daud, Zubeidaa, Pinjar, Road etc. were some the films he acted. His Telugu film Happy was also a film in which he gained recognition.

Manoj has often portrayed offbeat roles and he was widely appreciated for that. His character in the film Rajneeti also received praise and actress Katrina Kaif who also acted in the film explicitly expressed her respect for him by touching his feet. Gangs of Wasseypur is another important film in his career wherein he received accolades for his performance.

Manoj Bajpai is motivated by a couple of Marathi films and he frankly admitted that.

On the personal front, Bajpai is wedded to Shabana Raza, better known as Neha in Bollywood. If one remembers she had acted in the films Fiza and Kareeb.

7. Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was born in Budhana in Muzaffarpur district of Western UP on May 19, 1974. He grew up with seven brothers and two sisters in his native village. He is a science graduate from Gurukul Kangri University Haridwar and after completion of his graduation, he worked as a chemist in a factory for a short while. He did not like the job and hence leaving it proceeded to Delhi to find some other job which might interest him. As he could not find a suitable job in Delhi, he even worked as a watchman for his survival. Within a short while, he watched theatres and felt interested in it. He joined a theatre group and started studying the art of acting. He graduated in acting from National School of Drama in 1996 and relocated to Mumbai to pursue his career in acting.

On arrival in Mumbai, sustenance and survival became a serious issue for him and he started doing minor and few minute roles in the television which was simply not enough either for his survival or to showcase his acting talent. At one point of time having been fed up with minor roles in TV, he decided to try his luck in Bollywood film industry where though the roles were minor and nondescript, the money paid was higher than that of TV serials.


After a very long story of struggle, he got the lead role in Pipli Live, Kahani, gangs of Wasseypur and gangs of Wasseypur-2 which turned the tables in his favour. He won a National special jury award for his performance in Pipli Live.

8. Piyush Mishra

Piyush Mishra is an Indian film actor, singer, composer, lyricist, theatre director. His versatility in acting has proved him as one of the promising actors in Bollywood Cinema today he has. He was also considered to play the role of Prem in the superhit movie “Maine Pyaar kia” which put Salman khan in the hearts of his fans. He has acted in 25 Films, written dialogues in more than 5 films, and given lyrics for more than 10 films and this is just the beginning for him. This versatile actor was born in Gwalior on Jan 13, 1986. He grew up in Gwalior but his love for movie brought him to Delhi and he graduated from prestigious institute national school of drama, Delhi in 1986. Thereafter he established himself as Theatre artist and director in Delhi and made his debut as a film actor with Mani Ratnam's in 1998, he portrayed as C.B.I Investigation Officer after almost a decade. He won the Zee cine awards for writing the dialogues of 2001 movie “The legend of Bhagat Singh”. In year 2003, he was critically acclaimed for his acting in the movie “mambos”, where he played the role of Kaka, the right hand of underworld Don “Jahangir”. Mishra again appeared as a critic in favourite Anurag Kashyaps movie “Gulaal”, where he played Prithvi Bana, psychic brother of the villain. Mishra was nominated for zee cine awards for the “best actor in supporting role” in the year 2012 for the movie “Gangs of Wasseypur”, and his recent movie was “The Shaukeens” where he played one of the lead.


He met his wife Priya Narayanan in 1992 when he was directing a play and married her in 1995. He lives in Mumbai with his wife and two sons Josh and Jai.
