Hindi Movie Review Jalebi - Cast & Crew

Recently been appraised for his role in Sonali Cable, Rhea Chakraborty has been a fresh face in Bollywood industry. She is a VJ on MTV India. She was the runner up of the MTV India’s show TV Scooty Teen Diva 2009. She was then given the video jockey spot by MTV India. It was just because of his cool nature that she became the VJ for MTV India at a very early age. Besides being an actor in Bollywood industry, she has also made his presence felt in Telugu movies. In fact, her debut film was Tuneega-Tuneega directed by M.S. Raju.

In 2013, she made her Bollywood debut through Yash Raj films production movie Mere Dad ki Maruti directed by Ashima Chibber. She played the role of the female lead opposite Shaqib Salem. She has likewise hosted several shows aired on MTV India like gone in 60 seconds, Pepsi MTV Wassup, etc.  There were rumors of her dating Aashiqui 2 fame Aditya Roy Kapoor. Both were spotted together at various spots across Mumbai. However, their relationship didn’t work out and eventually they broke up. Recently, she has been signed up to play the female protagonist in YRF’s upcoming movie Bank Chor. She will work opposite Ritesh Deshmukh.

Her latest release was 2014 Bollywood movie Sonali Cable directed by Charudutt Acharya. She played a pivotal role in the movie. However the movie did not do well at the box office and was declared as a flop.

Digangana Suryavanshi was born on 15 October 1997 in Mumbai where she currently resides. She finished her education in St Xavier's High School in Goregaon. Her acting career started very early, and in 2002 she performed as a child artist in the thriller television show Kya Haadsa Kya Haqeeqat. Other TV shows she performed in are Krisshna Arjun in which she had an episodic role, Shakuntala in which she performed as a child artist, Ruk Jaana Nahin in which she performed as the sister of Saanchi - the main role in this soap opera, Qubool Hai in which she performed for a month and played a supporting role, and since 2013 she plays the lead role of Veerakri Sampooran Singh in the Indian television soap opera Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera. Digangana is very ambitious and plans to build a bright acting career.

Kausar Munir is a prominent Bollywood screen writer and lyricist. She was born and raised up in Bandra, Mumbai in India. Music and songs has always been her passion. She studied at Xavier’s College in Mumbai, where she took an English Literature course.

Aakanksha Nandrekar is a well-known Indian music director. She works in the Bollywood industry. she completed her school education at Poorna Prajna High School. Aakanksha Nandrekar holds a BA degree. Shilpa Rao is perhaps the youngest Bollywood singer who made her debut with her song “Tose Naina’ from the movie ‘Anwar’ which was composed by music director Mithoon. This singer was a discovery of music composer Mithoon. She got the chance to sing her debut song when she was studying in college. It is said that her father groomed up this singer when she was young. She had her first training from her father S. Venkat Rao who was a music graduate. 
 

Shreya Ghoshal, one of the most famous singers in Bollywood today, was born on March 12th, 1984, in Berhampore, West Bengal. Her father Biswajit Ghoshal is an electrical engineer and mother Sharmistha Ghoshal is a postgraduate in literature. She started singing since the age of 4 when her mother taught her. She started her formal training in Hindustani classical Gharana of music when she was only six years old. She was trained for 18 months after which she continued her training in Mumbai with Late Mukta Bhideji. She completed her graduation in Arts with majors in English. Her first on-stage performance was at their club’s annual function. Her first studio album was in Bengali in 19998 and was named Bendhechhi Beena, and her first onscreen performance was in Awaz Nayi Andaaz Wohi. In 1995, she became the winner of All India Light Vocal Music Competition. Her fame and career began with her winning a television singing reality show named Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.

Aanya Dureja is a seven-year-old child artist. She was born on 14 November in 2011 in Ahmadabad, Gujarat, India. Aanya’s father’s name is Rajnish Dureja and Mother’s name is Hema Dureja. Aanya made her debut in Bollywood movies from the movie “Jalebi”, which was released on 12 October in 2018, and directed by Pushpdeep Bhardhwaj. Aanya Dureja played the role of Pulti in the film. Aanya has also worked in Hindi TV serials. Apart from acting, Aanya also likes dancing. She is a cute little rising star of the star. Every time she comes on the screen, she grabs the attention of the audience through her acting and cuteness. 

Farida Dadi got fame as a child artist during 1960s by name Baby Farida and now she is acting in television serials and movies.

Farida Dadi was one of the most admired child actresses during the yester years who played her first role as that of young Nutan for the movie Sujata that was released in the year 1960. She got a lot of appreciable roles as a child artist in various class movies during 1960’s such as Ram Aur Shyam, Dosti, Jab Jab Phool Khile, Kabuliwala, Bhrahmachari, Sangam, and a lot more. She became very popular by name Baby Farida. During her adulthood, in 1969, her parents decided not to allow her to take lead roles in Bollywood movies so she opted out. However, she came back to acting in 1984 when she started doing some character roles in Bollywood.

After that, this Baby Farida of 1960s chose to start her career as Television actress and again she got fame but this time she was recognised as Farida Dadi. Her first television role was for the Television Serial Uttaran in which she played the role of Anjum Nani. Uttaran was telecasted on Colors TV from 2008 to 2015. Later on, she also acted for another television series Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann which was aired on Zee TV. She has acted for some more television series and some movies too such as Dhol, 3 Idiots, and The Awakening.

Poorti Arya is a model and Indian TV and film actress. Poorti has been last seen in a Hindi movie Jalebi. She started her career through the small screen and made her TV debut through “Singhasan Battisi (2014)” aired on Sony Pal. Singhasan Battisi is a collection of Indian folk tales. The story was about king Vikramaditya and 32 statues of Apsara on his throne.

Sonali is an actress in the entertainment industry. She worked in various films, television series, and music videos, such as "Samara," which focuses on the character of a police officer who is assigned a mission in the mountainous region and finds himself investigating a series of killings. It also focuses on the possibility of a biowar that is going to take place in the country and infect people with the virus. She plays the role of Geetha in this film. It was released on August 11, 2023, and was directed by Charles Joseph. "Crash" revolves around the story of four siblings who become orphans and are separated from each other when their parents lose their lives in a car accident.

Pushpadeep Bharadwaj is an admired Hindi film director and Scriptwriter. He has directed a movie named ‘Jalebi’. It was released in 2018. It’s a noncommercial film with mature content, although it’s a remake of a 2016 Bengali movie ‘Praktan’ but, nevertheless the direction has been top notch and has received great reviews from critics. Pushpadeep has made a lot of short movies before giving an actual box office hit, he has an official youtube channel where he uploads his feature films from time to time. Pushpadeep believes in making the best out of what’s within us not what is within our pockets.

Pushpdeep Bhardwaj is a film director and writer of Indian origin best known for his contributions to the Hindi Film Industry. He was born in Delhi and graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology. After completing his studies, he worked briefly in visual merchandising at Reliance before realizing his true passion for film. He subsequently became an acting instructor and also participated in theater productions in Delhi. In his early career, Pushpdeep directed and acted in several short films. In 2018, he made his directorial debut with the musical romantic drama film, Jalebi.

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt created a niche for himself as a screenplay, writers and even director as his movies dealt with emotion, pain, sufferings, exploitation and even trauma that was not very regular in arts or commercial cinema. His films always had focused women empowerment( Arth, Kaash, Sir, etc.). Arth and “Saaransh; remains his best film till date. His film story was mostly inspired from his own life. 

Manoj Soni is a well known Cinematographer and Director of Photography. He has been in Indian film industry for over two decades. Manoj Soni lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is well known for his works in movies, like “Raja Hindustani,” “The Legend of Michael Mishra,” “Love Games,” “Kya Kool Hai Hum 3,” “Entertainment,” ”Himmatwala,” “Housefull 2” and many more. He started as an assistant cameraman in the movie “Jurm” which was released in 1990.

Abhishek Mishra is an Indian Producer, Lyricist, Music Director in the film industry. He has done several projects in Gujarati and Bollywood entertainment industry. He worked as a lyricist in Swabhimaan and Bas Ek Chance for Gujarati entertainment. He was Music Director for Bollywood release Jalebi in 2018. He produced movies like One More…, Shobhna’s Seven Nights. 

Jeet Gannguli is a famous singer and music composer of Hindi and Bengali films. He was born as Chandrajeet Ganguly on February 10, 1977, in Mumbai, India. He started his journey as a musician at the tender age of three. He completed his studies at Baranagore Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama High School in West Bengal and subsequently graduated from the University of Calcutta. 

Jeet was trained in classical music under his father, Kali Ganguly’s guidance, along with his aunt, Shibani Roychowdhury. He also studied jazz, rock and western classical music with Karlton Kitto. He has scored music for several Bollywood and Tollywood films. Jeet got his first major break when he teamed up with Pritam Chakraborty in scoring the music for Sanjay Gadhvi’s Tere Liye in 2001. 

The Jeet-Pritam duo was roped in another Gadhvi’s film, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai in the following year. They composed all the songs in the movie. When the duo parted ways, he started to score music for Hindi and Bengali movies, television series and jingles. He composed the music for the Bollywood film, Morning Walk, from which he won the Upcoming Music Composer of the Year award in Mirchi Music Awards in 2009 for the song Bhor Bhayo. Jeet scored music for films like Cheenti Chennti Bang Bang, Mumbai Cutting, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, Blood Money and Raaz 3. 

In 2013, he composed six songs from the blockbuster romantic musical drama film, Aashiqui 2. He earned Filmfare Award, Zee Cine Award and IIFA Award for Best Music Director for this movie. He also received a nomination at the Screen Awards for Best Music Director. 

Later, he scored few songs from the films Youngistaan, Singham Returns and City Lights. This 2015, he worked for films like Alone, Mr. X Khamoshiyan, Welcome to Karachi, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Ishqedarriyaan. He is currently working in the upcoming Bollywood films Phir Se, Ishq Junoon, Hate Story 3, Junooniyat and Secret. 

He made his acting debut in Bengali through the 2004 film, Premi; the remake of the Telugu film, Nee Sneham. He was starred and worked on the music of the Bengali films Bandhan in 2004 and Yuddho and Shubhodrishti in 2005. He scored the music for several Bengali films including Eri Naam Prem, Refugee, I Love You, Tiger, Premer Kahini. Mon Mane Na, Amanush, Paglu, Awara, and Boss: Born to Rule, Rangbaaz, Game, Herogiri, Besh Korechi Prem Korechi and many more.

Tanishk Bagchi is an Indian music composer and singer. He is 5'-7" (170 cms) tall and weighs about 60kg (152 lbs). He has brown eyes and dark black hair. His hometown is Kolkata, West Bengal. He went to Scottish Church Collegiate School, Kolkata, India. As a child, he was never interested in music. His father Nandakumar Das learned guitar from various points. Then he came to Kolkata and met his mother, who used to play Hawaiian guitar. Tanishk believes that music brought his parents together. Tanishk’s father began his career with composer Salil Choudhury and further collaborated with famous celebrities like Satyajit Ray, R.D. Burman, and Illayraja. Tanishk made his debut stage performance with a guitar when he was only 8.

Kunal Vermaa is a poet, lyricist, and music composer of Indian origin. He was born in the city of Sri Madhopur in Rajasthan on 2nd July 1984. He made his debut in the Indian film industry in the year 2015 with the movie Hamari Adhuri Kahani as a lyricist. For this movie, he also received a nomination at the Mirchi Music Awards in 2016 in the category of Best Upcoming Lyricist of the year. His other works as a lyricist include the songs Aur is Dil Mein from the movie Kya Meri Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai ? (2021), Malang – title song (2020), Tum hi aana from the movie Marjaavaan (2019), Mera waala Dance from Simmba (2018) and many more.

Prashant Ingole is a Belagavi-based lyricist, who rose to fame after penning the lyrics of the song Gajanana that entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2015. Gajanana was one of the four tracks that he penned for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s box-office epic historical film, Bajirao Mastani (2015).

'Virag Mishra' along with 'Rashmi Singh' forms their screen name ‘Rashmi Virag.’ They belong to India. By profession, both of them are lyricists in the Bollywood film industry. In the year 1950, Rashmi and Virag formed their duo. Virag Mishra took the lyric writing to the next level in the industry. He is also a music director and composer. His first movie was ‘Zinda’ which was released in 2006. He excelled in the music world with his performances in many movies. His work got appreciated with a Stardust Award for the film ‘Zinda’ (2006). He also worked as an actor in ‘I Love NY’ (2013). Most famous for his songs in Aashiqui 2, Arijit Singh has established himself as a prominent playback singer and music programmer. He was the runner-up in Fame Gurukul, a singing competition, in 2005. He then went on to win another singing reality show, 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil.

Born in 1987 in West Bengal, Arjit was trained in classical music by his aunt and mother. He had a passion for music from an early age and his parents decided to get him a professional trainer, Rajendra Prasad Hazari for classical music and Dhirendra Prasad Hazari to train him at tabla.  His teachers encouraged Arijit to try out for Fame Gurukul in 2005 and chose to promote the Indian classical music genre.

Pritam Chakraborty gave Arjit a chance and signed him for three films; Crook, Golmaal 3, and Action Replayy. He made his debut singing “Phir Mohabbat” for Murder 2 in 2011. This kickstarted his career as a playback singer and led to him singing songs such as; “Raabta", “ Duaa", and “Phir Le Aya Dil", earning nominations for the latter two in Mirchi Music Award With the release of the hit song “Tum Hi Ho” Singh became a common household name. The song helped him win nine awards from various award shows. He has since sung.

Arjit is known as a down to earth, hardworking singer. His hobbies include badminton and writing.

The talented Jubin Nautiyal was born on 14th June 1989 in the city of Dehradun, Uttrakhand. He hails from a Brahmin family with roots in Jaunsar region. His father Mr. Ram Sharan Nautiyal is a politician as well as a businessman while his mother Mrs. Neena Nautiyal is a businesswoman as well. Jubin states that his father came from a small agricultural background and that he feels extremely proud that his father came so far starting from zero. He further says that he enjoys all the attention he gets considering the fact he has worked hard and that he doesn’t come from any ‘Bollywood family’ or has any ‘Bollywood connection.’ He did his schooling till the eighth grade from St. Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun. He continued school at Welham Boys’ school, Dehradun where he studied music as a subject and built his base in the teachings of Hindustani classical music. After completing his schooling, he enrolled in Mithibai College in Mumbai.

Krishnakumar Kunnath is an Indian playback singer of Malayalam region. He was born and brought up in Delhi. Krishna was born to C.S. Menon and Kanakavalli, both his parents are Malayali. He has sung a song in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayali languages. His other names are K.K. or Kay Kay. He has completed his schooling from Mount St. Mary’s school, Delhi. Krishna graduated from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University from the commerce background. During his school days, he won many singing competitions. Even before joining singing as his profession he was the lead vocalist for different college bands. KK was very much influenced by singer Kishore Kumar and music director R.D. Burman. No training was taken up by him in this field. After completing his graduation, he moved to Mumbai with dreams to become a singer. Later in 1994, he presented his tape as a demo to Louis Banks, Ranjit Barot, and Leslie Lewis. UTV called him to sing a jingle for Santogen Suiting ad. Moreover, he started his career in singing as an ad jingle singer. Thus, in a span of four years, he sang over 3500 jingles in eleven different languages. Krishna has said that he respects Leslie Lewis as his mentor for giving him a chance to sing his first jingle in Mumbai. In the year 1999, he appeared in ‘Josh of India’ song during cricket world cup to support Indian team.

Kunal Mehta is a known sound designer in the India Film Industry. He had done many hit movies of his time in his career span. The sound designer was born in the year 1976 and entered the Entertainment industry without any professional training or diploma course. He began his career with the studio named ‘Sumi’ as an assistant. Here, he learned the different nuances of Sound design and the importance of background music for any visual. He debuted with the film ‘Mann’ in the year 1999 and gained immense fame with the movie ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya’ starring Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen, Katrina Kaif, and Sohail Khan.

Parikshit Lalvani is a famous Indian sound editor, sound designer, DJ and the CEO of Creative Sound Design with an experience of more than 16 years. Parikshit was born on 27th August, 1977 in Juhu , Mumbai. He started his career as an engineer by taking a degree in Digital Electronics and working at PACE Communications.

Justin Jose is a sound engineer and sound mixer of Indian origin. He has worked in films of different regional languages like Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Malayalam. Justin Jose was born on 11th October,1980 in Thrissur, Kerala. He started working in the industry in the year 2003 and is still very active with his work. Justin did his graduation in Economics from St.Thomas College, Thrissur. After that, he received Diploma in Audio Recording from Chetna Sound Studio. He also received 4th-grade electronic keyboard from Trinity College of Music. He moved to Mumbai in 2003 and started working under Deepan Chatterjee.

Nimish Pilankar was a Bollywood Sound Editor who exhibited his talent while working for documentaries, movies, and television shows. The renowned sound editor has the credit of working for big-budget movies like Race 3, Housefull 4, Kesari, and many more.

Dinesh Yadav is a famous Bhojpuri director, screenwriter, and story writer. Initially, he worked as a journalist and then turned his attention to the Bhojpuri film industry. He has written the storylines of various Bhojpuri movies, including Tai Mor Love Story, Waah Zindagi, Khuddar, Naagraj, Shiv Rakshak, and others. He doesn’t stop there. In 2012, he made his directoral debut as a co-lead in ‘Dhadkela Tohre Naame Karejwa’, which starred Vijay Verma and Rani Chatterjee. Varun Mitra is an admired model and Indian actor. He was born on 20 October in New Delhi. He completed his secondary education from The Ram School, Gurgaon.
