1. Archana Kavi

Archana Kavi’s real name is Archana Jose Kaviyil. She was born on January 4, 1990 in New Delhi, India. She is an Indian TV host and movie actress. She debuted as an actress in the Malayalam romantic drama film, Neelathaamara in 2009 under the direction of Lal Jose. Archana is Jose Kaviyil and Rosamma’s daughter. She grew up in Delhi and study in St. Xavier’s School in Delhi. From Delhi, she transfered to Ramapuram, Kerala, to pursue Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Mar Augustinose College. According to her, she originally came from the middle-class Malayali clan where acting was not a profession. She wanted to be a journalist at first because her father works as a senior journalist and subsequently wished to become a radio jockey. She then started her internship in Malayalam’s Yes Indiavision channel and supports the production of various programs. After one year, she became the anchor of the Bloody Love show on Indiavision. Archana debuted in 2009 in the successful, Neelathaamara where she appeared as Kunjimalu, a maid who falls for her master. Her role here received many critical awards. Next is the Malayalam film, Mummy and Me, which was directed by Jeethu Joseph. Her role here was a rebellious teenager. Her next film, Best of Luck did not make an impact to become a box office hit. She debuted in Tamil through the film, Aravaan in 2012 where she played the role of Chimby. She debuted in Telugu through the romance film, Backbench Student in 2013. After that, she played the lead role in Abhiyum Njanum who tries to find her fiancée in Kerala. She was also starred in Honey Bee, Pattam Pole, Bangles and Nadodimannan. Her next Tamil film was Gnana Kirukkan. She was also doing Day-Night along with Maqbool Salmaan. Archana was also doing the Malayalam sports and musical film, Mazhavillinattam Vare where she played as a Muslim girl. She will also be featured in the upcoming Kukkiliyar and Hindi film, Saroja. Archana also anchored the reality show “Sundari Neeyum Sundaran Njaanum” on Asianet. She received many awards for her appearance in Neelathaamara such as Asianet Award for Best Female New Face of the Year, Jai Hind Award for Best Female New Face of the Year, Surya Award for Best Female New Face of the Year and Film Critics Award for Best Female New Face of the Year. She also got the Asianet Award for Best Star Pair and Kairali Awards for The Most Popular Actress in 2011 for the film Mummy and Me. She was also nominated in the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Malayalam for the same film.

4. Vanitha Krishnachandran

Vanitha Krishnachandran is another of Mollywood’s long running actors, having featured in over 150 films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. She played the lead role in several movies in the 1980’s before taking a break after her wedding. 

 

Born to a Malayali father, Ganeshan, and a Tamilian mother Kamala, Vanitha entered the movie industry as a 13 year old, debuting in Padai Maarinal, in which she played the role of a school girl. Her Malayalam debut was in the movie Chandrabimbam, which starred Jayabharathi, MG Soman, Prathap Pothen and Sathar in the lead roles, directed by Sankaran Nair. Her subsequent roles in the movies Eenadu, Enickum Oru Divasumand Kaikeyi made her a popular actress, featuring roles opposite Mohanlal and Mammootty, in Keezhvanum Sivackum, and Vikadakavi respectively.

 

She also featured in movies such as Belt Mathai, Vanitha Police, and Deeparadhana, paired along with the actor Krishnachandran, whom she later married in 1986. Among the last movies made before she took a break for her family was the movie Kalyana Agathigal, which marked the debut of actor Nassar. The Tamil drama movie was directed by K Balachander and featured the actress Saritha in the lead role, with Vanitha playing a supporting role.

 

She featured in roles portraying Mata Amrithanandamayi and Kaali, in her reprisal roles in a tele-series. She made her comeback to Tamil TV in a negative role in the TV series Kaalamulaitha Aasai, and has continued with her roles in serials including Alaigal and Kolangal, and in Malayalam serials including Amma Manasu.

 

Some of her movies between 1980 and the present include Eenadu, Oru Maadapraavinte Kadha, Vikadakavi, Sargavasantham, Nottam, Innathe Chintha Vishayam, Bhagyadevatha, Thattathin Marayathu, Chapters, Vishudhan, Artist, Memories and Mili.

 

She has also featured in TV serials such as Aakashadootu, Chandralekha, Kumkumapoovu, Amma Manassu, Daivathinu Swantham Devootti, Paattukalude Paattu in Malayalam, and in Tamil in Madhavi.

Arjun Accot is a cinematographer and DOP [director of photography]. He is a native of Mayyil, Kerala, India and lives in Kannur, Kerala, India. He received his primary education from Gracious English Medium School. He also went to St. Study in Joseph College of Communication to receive his college degree. He worked as a cinematographer for the film Rhymes, released in 2021. J. Ajith Kumar directed the film. He also worked on another film called 1 Princess Street, which was released in 2024. Ayoob completed his schooling at VHSS Chathiyara, Sooranad, and passed out from the school in 2001. In future, he would go on to take admission in Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara, Alleppy district in the year 2006. Balu Varghese is an Indian Malayali film actor. He has acted in both lead and supporting roles. He was born at Eranakulam to Neena Varghese and Varghese EJ. He is the nephew to music director Alex Paul and actor Lal. He made his debut in the movie, Chanthupottu as a child actor in the year 2005. 9. Shammi Thilakan

Son of the late actor Thilakan, Shammi Thilakan is one of the more versatile actors in the Malayalam movie industry having nearly 30 years of experience as an actor, and as a dubbing artist. He is the recipient of the State Award for Best Dubbing Artist for lending his voice to Nassar in the movie Gazal  in 1993. He also lent his voice for Napoleon in the movie Devasuram.

 

Shammi Thilakan began his career in 1986, having to work under the shadow of his immensely talented father Thilakan. However, through his quality work and his extremely professional attitude, he has made a name as prominent as his father in the movie industry. His debut was in the 1986 movie directed by K.G. George, Irakal where he performed a supporting role. His acting and skill soon got him noticed and he then began to see a wide variety of roles being offered.

 

From Jathakam in 1989 to Ottayal Pattalam in 1992, to Thalastaanam and Dhruvam, and Rajakeeyam to Boxer, Sargavasantham, Kaathil Oru Kinnaram to Sulthan Hyderali, Lelam and Bhoopathi Ezhupunna Tharakan & Pathram, Shammi has had over 20 hits in the 1990’s. 

 

His career took a massive boost from the year 2000 onwards, from where he has completed over 42 movies in the nearly 15 years since, with the total number of movies being made being over 70. Some of his other hits include Praja, Phantom, Kasthuriman and Housefull.

 

 In 2013, he was also awarded the TTK Prestige – Vanitha Film Awards for Best Comedian for his roles in Neram  and Sringaravelan.

 

His roles have been varied and interesting, from dark, negative characters that evoke strong emotion, to comedy that usually leaves the audience in stitches. Shammi has truly evolved into a strong and proficient actor stepping out from under his father’s shadow and carving a niche for himself.
