Gandharva Sangeetham Junior 1 was introduced following the success of the Gandharva Sangeetham Senior. This is a show organized by Swaralaya a Cultural and Musical Organization in association with Kairali TV as a standing tribute to K J Yesudas, oft called the Ganagandharvan of Music. And hence the name Gnadharva Sangeetham. The kids from different age group participate and compete for the coveted title in this reality show. The show is organized to capture the innocence and sincerity in the music of the youngest talents, groom them in the hands of eminent judges and prepare them for a better musical journey. Unlike the other music reality shows, Gandharava Sangeetham Junior has no audience participation that can tamper the ratings of individual contestants. Gandharva Sangeetham Junior has the most eminent music director Ousepachan as the chief judge. Other able members include Carnatic Vocalist Mahati.
Celebrity judges are also brought in during the different occasions to bring color and energy to the show. The children are corrected and encouraged to better their performance by valuable inputs from the judges. There are different rounds for the children to present their talents including My Best Round, Classical Song Round, Raga Based Medly round etc which encourages the children to break through the traditional music keeping the bases strong.
