GP Ramachandran is a well-known Malayalam movie critic. Ramachandran was born in 1963. He was the son of AP Narayanan and GP Devaki. He attended St. Xavier's UP School in Peruvayal, Devagiri Savio High School, and Devagiri College. He has a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in Malayalam literature and language. GP Ramachandran has written hundreds of articles in Malayalam magazines.  For more than three decades, he had been in the field of cinema criticism. Aside from books like the 1998 State Government Film Award-winning Film and Life of a Malayalee (SPCS), the 2009 State Government Film Award-winning Malayalam Film - Country, Language, and Culture (Kerala Language Institute), and the 2011 State Government Film Award-winning Lok Cinema View and Place (Kerala Language Institute), there are others (SPCS).

He has also released 25 international films, including Discovering India from Indian Cinema (Thought), World Cinema Travels (Lead Books), and Green Blouse (Progress). It also got the Best Film Article award from the State Government in 2003. He has received the Kerala Government's First Cultural Kerala Award, as well as other honors. P. He has served on juries for the Ramachandran National Film Award (Writing Category), the International Documentary / Short Film Festival, the Kerala State Television Award, the Sahitya Akademi Award, the Science Indian Non-Fiction Festival, the Vibgyor Film Festival, the John Abraham Award, and the SBT Media Award. He wrote a regular column called Lokasinima about world film. He is a member of the Kerala State Film Academy's General Counsel. The Progressive Art Literary Group is currently a member of the State Committee and Central Committee of the State Banks Employees Union.

He has been with the State Bank of India since 1983 and is currently the Chief Associate at the State Bank of India, Mannarkkad RACC. He is the recipient of the National Film Award (President's Golden Lotus-2006), Kerala Government Award for Best Film Text (3 times 1998, 2009, 2011), and Kerala Government Award for Best Film Essay, 'Insight' (2003).
