He also performed a song for the short film, Maarimada. Santhosh Manappally received the State Folklore Academy award for individuals who have made significant contributions to the survival and growth of the Thazhava community. Santhosh was born into a family of agricultural laborers. For the first time, he attracted public attention by singing Nadanpat Sam. Santhosh formed a professional national singing group in 1997 and performed at hundreds of festivals.
