Boban Samuel is a famous Malayalam cinema director. He has a dedicated audience and enjoys the good opinion of both the masses and critics with just four films in his kitty. He produces the typical Malayalam movie with a new touch, laced with humour. Almost all of his movies have a humourous first half after which it takes a distinctive turn.

His filmography includes ‘Janapriyan’(2011), ‘Roman’(2013), ‘ Happy Journey Click to look into! >> Read More... ’(2014) and ‘ Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum Click to look into! >> Read More... ’(2016). He has made brief appearances in two movies. The first film he made an appearance is his own movie, ‘Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum’ where he plays the character of a movie freak. The second film is ‘Thinkal Muthal Velli Vare’(2015) where he appears as himself.

He has a good rapport, with the very talented Malayalam actor- Jayasurya. Jayasurya landed the lead role in three out of four movies, the director brought out. Jayasurya’s rendition breathes life into the characters, and with Boban’s brand of cinema which has a touch of genuineness and a feel-good factor, the movies turn the age-old tropes to something new.

His first film ‘Jayapriyan’ (translated as The One Liked By The Masses) follows the trials and tribulations faced by the happy-go-lucky Priyan. The film initially suffered from a lack of publicity and was relegated to single slots per day and was not shown in many of the big cinema theatres but as people began to know of its existence through word-of-mouth and good reviews by noted critics, it became a massive hit.

He changed genre with the next film ‘Romans’, a comedy-thriller, which is about a village fooled by two escaped convicts believing them to be priests from Rome. It enjoyed massive success, following which many big production houses offered him films. ‘Romans’ is the only movie of Boban without Jayasurya. In ‘Happy Journey’, the lead, played by Jayasurya, becomes blind due to an accident. The film then tries to focus on how he tries to form India’s blind cricket team. It has a mix of political drama and also a little bit peppering of melodrama.

After his third film, there were rumours about Boban making his next with Jayaram, set entirely in Australia, but then, nothing was heard about it after some time. ‘Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum’, his fourth film, has Amala Paul Amala Paul is the super talented star of South Ind >> Read More... playing a rich kid Jiya with two male leads played by Jayasurya and Kunchacko Boban Kunchacko Boban is a handsome young guy who got in >> Read More... and has a few laughs along its way.
