Salim Padiyath

Salim Padiyath was born in 1958 in Kodungallur, Kerala. He did his graduation in Commerce, and after that, he began his career in cinema. He has directed many movies and documentaries. Salim Padiyath is an immensely talented director who has worked as an associate director with Kamal and M.T. Vasudevan Nair in almost 25 films.

He has directed a famous documentary Shre-e-Malabar which is about the freedom fighter Mohamed Abdur Rahiman. It shows the sacrifices he made for our country as a freedom fighter. Salim has also directed various Short Films and ad films. Gharaksharangal was written by Padiyath himself and was his debut feature film which won him the National Award for the Best Children’s Film in 2000.

Some of the famous movies directed by Salim are Perumazhakkalam, Kharaaksharangal, and much more. Perumazhakkalam is a film that has a story about the accidental killing of one person and the series of incidents that follow after this killing, was released in 2004. This movie won several awards like the Kerala State Awards, National Film Award for Best Film and Other Social Issues, and many other well-recognized awards.

Kharaaksharangal was released in 2000 and won the National Film Award for Best Children's Film in 2001. Salim has given many best movies to the Indian Cinema, made people friendly with many Common and Deep concepts.
