Nirmal Gylson

Nirmal Gylson is an Indian versatile and passionate film professional, editor, and social media assistant. He has worked on more than twenty music video projects as a creative director, cinematographer, and editor. He was involved in the full process from concept development and scripting to post-production. He took his primary education at Sanjos Public School. Then, he went to MES Engineering College Campus School in 2017. After that, he studied Filmmaking (VFX) at the International School of Creative Arts (ISCA) from Jun 2019 – May 2020. Later, he went to Conestoga College in Ontario to pursue a diploma course in Filmmaking & TV Journalism (Jan 2023 – Apr 2024).  

Nirmal Gylson was featured as an associate cinematographer at Krishand Films in Kochi, Kerala for over three years (Jun 2019 – Dec 2022). He worked closely with acclaimed filmmaker Krishand RK, contributing to the creative process. He assisted in creating mood boards, shot lists, and equipment preparations, including DJI RS3, Red Komodo, and Aputure lights. As an assistant director & additional cinematographer, Nirmal Gylson worked for Karikku in Kochi, Kerala for two years (Nov 2020 – Dec 2022). He worked with the highest-subscribed content YouTube channel, where he managed cast & crew, coordinated schedules, and collaborated with various departments, including art & costumes. He was the assistant director of the Karikku web series, “Rock Paper Scissors Season 2.” He worked as an assistant cinematographer in “Aavasavyuham" (Kerala State Award for Best Film 2022) and as an associate cinematographer in a digital web series "Kraya Vikraya Prakriya.” The film and web series are directed by Krishand RK.

Nirmal Gylson was an assistant film editor at Appu N Bhattathiri in Kerala for over a year (Mar 2021 – Dec 2022). He assisted State Award-Winning film editor & director Appu N Bhattathiri, adapting to new skills and enhancing daily operations for improved efficiency in a dynamic environment. He also managed post-production workflows, coordinated between software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve, After Effects, and various file formats (Apple Prores, EDL, XML, Avid DNxHR) to ensure seamless editing process across over ten South Indian feature films & commercials.  As a promo editor, he worked for several movies, including Nizhal, Saras Kurup, and Anugraheethan Antony. He was a part of many films, such as 21 Grams, Madhuram Jeevamrutha Bindu (Malayalam), Ottu, and Rendagam (Tamil). 

Nirmal Gylson was a VFX Editor at Mindstein Studios in Kerala for a year (Jan 2022 – Dec 2022). He was also featured as a video editor & colorist at Netflix in Mumbai for two months (Nov 2022 – Dec 2022). He has served as a production assistant & editor and contributed to the editing of a high-profile music video with director Jamie Hodgins, working freelance in a virtual production studio in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As a freelance filmmaker, Nirmal Gylson worked on more than twenty music video projects with various roles. He has been working as a social media assistant at DoubleTree by Hilton since Oct 2023 in Kitchener, Ontario. He creates and manages engaging content for the hotel's online platforms, using his video editing & storytelling skills to showcase the brand and attract customers. In 2021, he earned the Best Film Editor Award issued by the Madras Independent Film Festival.
