Ashik Kumar Satheesh

Ashik Kumar Satheesh is a writer, director, and engineer based in Ernakulam, Kerala. He was born in 1990 and completed his schooling at SN Trusts Central School, Kollam, Kerala. Then, he studied a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), Hormis Nagar, Mookannoor. He started his professional career as an Assistant System Engineer at the Tata Consultancy Services in October 2021, but he started working as a filmmaker in January 2016 in Cochin, Kerala in the Malayalam film industry.  

Although Ashik started writing stories as a child, but he was unaware of his artistic talents. After graduating in engineering, he decided to fulfill his dream of filmmaking and therefore, made a short film called Boomerang in 2012. The film focussed on the environmental issues, and Avinav S. Menon worked as the leading actor. After that, he resigned from his engineering job, traveled across the country, and came back to Kerala to follow his passion for filmmaking sincerely. Therefore, he wrote, directed, and produced his second film called Dharna in 2017. The story was about a novice travel video blogger who gets robbed of all her possessions except her camera, leaving her stranded in the middle of the night in an unknown city. The film won several awards, including The Kerala State Film Awards for Best Film and Best Editing. In 2020, Ashik's next venture Munnariv was released. It was a science fiction about a work-from-home Malayali IT Engineer who starts hearing the voices of his daughter from the future, who tries to help him change the course of the world. The leading actors in the film were Ajesh Babu, Syju John, Shahid Khair, Anoprabha Lal, Shivani M.R., and Jithin Madanan.

Moreover, Ashik holds a certificate in Film Workshop on History and Aesthetics of Early World Cinema from the United Latino Students Association, and he is highly skilled in Creative Writing, Short Films, Film Editing, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Premiere Pro, Microsoft Word, Technical Writing, Non-profit Volunteering, Documentary Production, Film Production, and Screenwriting.
