Sab John Edathattil

Sab John is a Screenplay Writer, Story Coach, Actor, and Producer mainly known for his works in the Malayalam and Tamil industries. He is also a prominent storyteller in the South Indian film industry. He was born on December 30th, 1958 in Alappuzha, Kerala.

Edathattil has completed almost 30 years in screenwriting and has produced more than 25 screenplays, brand campaigns, with 11 years of experience in teaching screenwriting. He debuted as a writer in the 1989 film Chanakyan, which hit headlines because Edathattil wrote a 450-page long script in a short span of 18 days. He received much appreciation for his role as Narasimhan in Kuruthipunal, which was co-produced and written by Kamal Hassan. He also wrote the script for the Tamil blockbuster Sillunu Oru Kadhal.

 Edathattil is the chief mentor at Screenwrite.in – India's only Screenwriting Studio, and is also the professor of Screenwriting at L V Prasad Film and Television Academy, Mindscreen Film Institute, Chennai, and Loyola College, Chennai. Apart from this, John enjoys his spare time working with young aspiring writers from various parts of the country.

To talk about his personal life, he did his Bachelor of Arts in Commerce and did his Post-Graduation in Professional Accounting. He got married to Teres John in 1985 and has 5 children.

Edathattil is the founder chairman and Mentor at Cheeseflicks Pvt Ltd, an organized production house for feature movies and short films. He was also the jury member for the FICCI BAF Awards 2008 and 2009 and 2010 Mumbai.

John is currently a part of four mainstream-movie-screenplays and three web-series content of four Indian regional languages. He is also the content creator for two web series in Tamil and another in Malayalam which is for a new platform that is being developed. He conducts training for corporate executives and students of professional courses on story-based-learning-teaching techniques and scenario-planning practices. John occasionally volunteers in the "Transactional Analysis" propagation group and conducts basic opening level classes for school and college-going students.
