Prominent actor Kamal Haasan Kamal Haasan is the most versatile actor that Indi >> Read More... and filmmaker I. V. Sasi, spent 35-years of friendship. Last year, the actor promised the latter that if he won an award, he will be at the filmmaker’s back. Kamal kept his promise when IV Sasi received the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 62nd Filmfare ceremony in Chennai. Kamal thanked Sasi for keeping a promise which they kept for over 35 years that they will be in the limelight of success as to where they are now.

 
He also said that they have been friends and never expected that their journey would go that long. Kamal also mentioned that Sasi have done so much for the Malayalam film industry and that everyone knew him but never actually knows who he is. The actor also remembers what his mentor K. Balachander has to say about Sasi; “How does he conceive of his shot? Does he come with his storyboard? Does he come and make it off-the-cuff?” Kamal answered, “When I told him that he makes up his shot as we go along, he couldn't believe me.
 
Sasi had been only my friend and director till then, but it is only when Mr Balachander asked me about him, I realized how important Sasi was. We have done a lot of films together and I have even been his second assistant in a film. His wife Seema was also my dance student. Can you imagine Sasi has made 100 films in 20 years. He is a hero. Our hero. We are only heroes in his films.''
