Plot

When Devika Verma was five years old, her family lost everything because of which her father committed suicide. She later found solace in an orphanage maintained by a Christian Church, where she met Joseph and gradually fell in love with him. How will their love story blossom? The film is directed from Devika’s point of view and tries to explore the hardships and complexities of her journey throughout the story.

Star Performances

Aaradhya Sai’s portrayal of Devika Verma is compelling and convincing throughout the film. There are no dull acting moments of the protagonist. Her portrayal of Devika in the movie brings depth to the character and helps in generating raw emotions out of the viewers. Salman Faris as Roy Joseph did an excellent job in the movie and adds an element of love to the story through his character. The rest of the cast including I.M. Vijayan, Devan, Dinesh Panicker, Azees Nedumangad, Jayan Cherthala, Geetha Vijayan, and Vithura Thankachan played their respective parts in the movie with conviction.

Analysis

Through this movie, Satheesh Ananthpuri showcased an intriguing tale of Devika Verma, who at a very young age lost her family and later found solace in a Christian orphanage. There she found Joseph and both of them fell in love with each other. Satheesh added horror and drama to the simple story of this movie and depicted a poignant tale from Devika’s perspective. The director skillfully navigates the emotions through the story of Devika's life while representing the themes of love, loss, resilience, and stoicism. The performances of Aaradhya and Salman in the movie, as the protagonists of the story, successfully capture the empathy of the audience. They did a great job in evoking the emotions in the audience through their portrayal. The cinematography and music of the film were good and enhanced the essence of the story. The production quality of the film felt appropriate; however, a little more effort could have been great. The movie also addressed the theme of hope and the resilient nature of a human and how love can overpower any hardship. The first half of the film takes its time in establishing a relationship between the characters of the film and the audience while its second half is more focused on the story itself. One can even notice pacing issues in this film but overall this a lovely movie to watch.
