Vinoy Thomas

Vinoy Thomas is a well-known story writer from the Malayalam film industry.He was born in Nellikkampoyil,Iritty, Kannur, Kerala.He studied at St. Joseph High School, Kunnoth, and completed graduation from the University of Calicut. After that, he became a teacher at Government High School. He got married to Gigimol.

Vinoy's first book, Ramachi, a short story collection, was published in 2014. His first novel Karikkottakkari, is about the lives of migrants in Kanuur village. In 2020, his next novel, Puttu, was released. He has also published another short storybook, Mullaranjaanam. In 2020, Churuli, a Malayalam language science fiction horror movie was based on the story written by Vinay Thomas. He has also written Malayalam films like Palthu Janwar and Chathuram.

Vinoy has received various awards for his work. In 2019, he got the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for the short story book Ramachi.In 2021, he received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for the novel Puttu. He has also received the Edakkadu Sahithya Vedi Puraskaram, Sakhav Verghese Memorial Award, Joseph Mundassery Award, V.P Sivakumar Keli Award and Kunjamu Purakkad Memorial Award.
