Selva was born in the 1990s, is a Tamil film director from India. He is known for his film remakes and directed a string of box office hits in the 1990s. Pachaiyappa's College, Tamil Nadu, was Selva's alma mater. He began his career as an assistant director in an advertising business that produced commercials, documentaries, and short films.

Selva's first work with music director Ilaiyaraaja was "Naadi Thudikkuthadi," which he directed with novices but the film is yet to release.
