Robert Asirvatham was a Film Director and Cinematographer who worked in Tamil Cinema of the 1980s. He graduated as Cameramen from the Madras Film Institute in the 1970s. Robert died at the age of 68 in a private hospital. He worked with his friend S. Rajasekar who was a Film Director and Cinematographer; they both made a duo with each other which was called "Robert - Rajasekar" and were active in Film Direction and Cinematography. His career started with the first film "Kudisai" (1979) in which he worked as a Cinematographer. In 1980, "Oru Thalai Ragam" which hit the door of success. Robert has directed some of the top-rated films like Palaivana Solai (1981), Kalyana Kalam (1982), Chinna Poove Mella Pesu (1987), Manasukkul Mathappu (1988), Paravaigal Palavitham (1988). He has also directed a TV-Series Naanal in (2008).
