Lalitha Kumari is a movie actress who is known for her roles in the Tamil movie industry. The actress comes from a filmy family. Her father C.L. Anandan was a Tamil movie actor, who was famous for his action and romantic roles in movies like Lorry Driver (1966) and Vijayapuri Veeran (1962). Lalitha’s elder sister Disco Shanti is also an actress. She is known for her item dances in various South Indian and Hindi films.

Lalitha got married to Prakash Raj in 1994. Prakash is a multi-talented actor, director, TV host and producer who have worked in various industries. The couple parented three children- 1 son and two daughters. Their son Sidhu passed away in the year 2004. Their daughters’ names are Pooja and Meghna. The couple parted ways in 2009. Lalitha worked in over 30 movies in her career in the Tamil film industry. One of her earliest movies includes Manathil Uruthi Vendum. The movie released in 1987 and was made under the direction of K. Balachander. Her co-actors in the movie were Sridhar, Suhasini. The movie revolved around the character Nandini, played by Suhasini, and her life struggles. Two years later, the actress acted in another K. Balachander direction, Puthu Puthu Arthangal. In 1990, Lalitha featured in the investigative drama Pulan Visarani. The movie was a huge success and was remade in other languages as well.

The film was a major blockbuster, and Lalitha was much appreciated for her performance. Sigaram, a drama movie saw Lalitha sharing screen space with names like Rekha, S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and Radha. In 1995, Lalitha played the character Kuyil Aatha in the film Nadodi Mannan. The lead actors of the film were Meena and Sarath Kumar. She next appeared as Kannamma in the movie Marumagan. After her marriage, the actress took a sabbatical from films. She again started working movies after her divorce from husband Prakash Jha. She will appear in the film Muriyadi, where she is playing the role of actor Sathyaraj Subbaiah’s wife. In 2011, her ex-husband Prakash was arrested in a debt case.
