Summary:

The movie Yaaradi Nee Mohini Yaaradi Nee Mohini which translates to ‘Who are yo >> Read More... , is a directorial venture by Jawahar, who is director Selvaraghavan’s assistant. The screenplay and the story are both by Selvaraghavan. This movie is the Tamil version of the Telugu movie, Adavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule. The movie has got a soft feel throughout it, and the romance between Dhanush and Nayanthara is shown in a beautiful manner.

Plot:

Dhanush has done the role of Vasu in the movie. He is an unemployed youth in the movie, who is struggling to make ends meet. He spends almost five years without a job, and his father Raghuvaran, worried about his son’s future, frequently picks up quarrels with him. That is when Dhanush happens to stumble across Nayanthara, who is working in a software company. Dhanush manages to get a job, although he has poor and halting English. There is a twist in the story now as all the fun begins. Initially, Nayanthara is irritated by Dhanush, but slowly they become friends. The software professionals’ team goes to Australia on a project. One fine day, Dhanush confesses his love for Nayanthara. But, to his shock, he comes to know that Nayanthara is already engaged. Meanwhile, he comes to know that his best friend is to be his bridegroom. The rest of the movie is about whether Dhanush manages to marry Nayanthara or not.

Star Performances:

Dhanush has neatly performed the role of the familiar next door guy. His role as the son of Raghuvaran is very realistic to the point that the audiences are drawn into the movie. There is hidden love between the father and son. Raghuvaran’s role is that of a father with hidden love who quarrels with his son most of the times. Nayanthara is the one adding to the beauty of the movie. There is less scope for performance by Nayanthara, but she has done well with what has been given to her. Karthik has gotten a meaty role, and he has delivered his best.

Analysis:

Director Selvaraghavan’s screenplay is top notch. It gives a nice feeling, while watching this quality movie. The first half of the movie shows the city backdrop, and the second half happens in a village background. The depiction of a traditional Brahmin family in the village is far from the truth. There is some predictability about the scenes in the movie, which prove as a minor setback. But, if it were not for the item numbers, the movie is surely an entertainer that could be viewed with the family. There is an IT company backdrop shown in the movie, which bears no resemblance to a real software company. The scenes in the movie showing Australia are beautiful. But, some scenes show sets and raise doubts among the audience as to where the scenes have actually been shot.

What is there?

1. The numbers in the movie are evergreen and melodious.

2. Characterizations in the movie have been done very well.

3. The comedy track by Karunas adds to the lightheartedness of the movie.

What is not there?

1. Some scenes in the movie, like the reason for Dhanush’s exasperation, do not fit in well.

2. There are a few item numbers that are ill-fitting, and raise doubts about whether the movie is a family entertainer.

3. The verbal exchange between Dhanush and Raghuvaran sound harsh at times.

4. The lengthy portions after the interval might not retain some audiences till the climax.

Verdict:

The movie gives a pleasant feeling suited for a weekend treat in a nearby theater.
