She was very fond of writing since her school days and won first prize in a short story writing competition in the University Youth Festival. Not only that, but she was very active during her college days, and a few of her writings got featured in her college magazine. She always had an interest in writing poems and short stories. Social media (Facebook) paved the way for Meera to show her writing talent to the world. She posted her writings on Facebook, and she was happy to get encouraging responses from her followers. These favorable responses motivated her to write further. Her mother was an English teacher at All Saints College. Being a teacher and a mother, she has always been a support to Meera. Meera’s mother liked all her works. All these boosted her confidence to think about publishing a book, which comprises 50 of her poems. It wasn't easy to find a publisher to publish a book of poems because it's not a salable commodity. People are more interested in reading novels and fiction books than poems. But she managed to find a publisher. She contracted Authors press, a Delhi-based publisher. They liked her poems and decided to publish her books. That’s how Meera Nair’s first-ever book named ‘Grey: Born When Black Invaded White.’ This book was shortlisted for the Muse India Young Writers Award, and she was declared the runner-up in the poetry section. It was her first-ever award. From that moment, she started to consider poem writing seriously. She has also been a part of a poetry recital session conducted at Press Club in Trivandrum. She got an opportunity to recite her poems in front of a refined crowd and media. She said that this was a very new and different kind of experience for her. She is not only a writer but a good reader too. Reading makes her feel calm and relaxed. She is also a good dancer. She actively participated in dance programs during her school and college days. She was also a freelance writer for ‘The Hindu’ for 4 to 5 years.

Meera has done a stage performance named ‘Metajingle,’ themed on the sea. She did this with the support of the Alliance Francaise de Trivandrum (AFT). She teamed up with other international artists for this performance. She got this opportunity because of the AFT director’s wife. She gifted Meera’s book to a well-known French poet and theater person Marc Deleuze. He liked her book, and they worked together to write the script for this stage performance. They also collaborated with musicians John Anthony and French juggler Francoise Chat. Apart from being a writer, poet, dancer, and media person, she is also an actor. She is currently starring in a Malayalam TV serial ‘Manampole Mangalyam.’ Her first appearance in the Malayalam film industry was as a host in a TV show ‘Better Half.’ Then she made a music album which was a turning point in her life. Later, she played supporting roles in Malayalam movies ‘Njan Prakashan, ‘Run Kalyani’ and ‘The Priest.’ She has always mentioned that entering the film industry was unplanned. Life will always give us different opportunities to showcase our talent. All we have to do is dare to accept the challenge and grab the chance, just like how Meera Nair did it.
