T. N. Gopakumar (TV host )-365 words T. N. Gopakumar is a renowned TV host, producer, director and popular anchor in Asianet Channel. He shot to fame with a program named ‘ Kannadi’(Mirror) which had the highest run in a Kerala TV channel. The script of this program ‘Kannadi’ was penned by noted anchor-cum- journalist T.N. Gopakumar himself.

He had the vision to uplift the society through this program. This program was aimed at different audiences, depending on age, socio-economic group or those from the particular section of the society. ‘Kannadi’ was a mix-debate or a news coverage that did provide analysis of news coverage and interviews about political, social and economic issues.

The anchor and presenter of this show had highlighted the gender, human rights and other complex issues of the society. He also introduced the current affairs program and had anchored the same in a very image-based manner, showing a video footage of many of the events that are reported. But the main motto of the event was always that Gopakumar had a guest involved in or offering analysis on the story. He interviewed social activist-politician like Maneka Gandhi, and other Mollywood actor, etc.

The show concluded 1,000 episodes successfully, and the program got an excellent feedback from the audience. It helped people to increase even general knowledge of public too. T. N. Gopakumar is the renowned face in the media and took up journalism as his career by working first in Indian Express and then he joined other publications such as ‘Mathrubhumi’, ‘News Today’ and ‘Times of India’, etc.

But he had the largest career in the Asianet channel where he still continues even and perhaps he had spent over 20 years in the channel. Currently, he functions as the editor-in-chief of Asianet News in the Channel. He is also a renowned writer and even a recipient of the Kerala Sahithya Academy Award for his work ‘Suchindram Rekhakal’.

Through this program ‘‘Kannadi’’, he even took courage to undertake philanthropic activities based on the funds generated through this program. He also directed a movie ‘Jeevan Masai ‘ in 2001 which had Srividya and Kavya Madhavan in the lead.
