Plot

Anweshippin Kandethum focuses on the professional life of SI Anand Narayanan. The movie is set in the late 1980s and revolves around two major cases in the life of a police officer. The initial case got him suspended for a while from his services. This case involved a girl named Lovely, who had disappeared and to get to the end of it, Anand tries to investigate some Christian officials, leading to his termination.

Now, Anand is assigned another case by SP Rajagopal. This one involves the murder of a middle-aged lady, named Sridevi. Anand tries his best to catch the culprit but is faced by the villagers, who had received backlash from the police previously. The case is complicated and he must solve it, given his history. His reputation and respect depend upon this one.

Star Performances

Tovino as a lead role in a crime thriller is a treat for the viewers. Tovino Thompson’s portrayal of SI Anand Narayanan, a dedicated officer with the courage to stand against the wrong, is no short of perfection. His work in Anweshippin Kandethum became a stellar factor and added to the glory of the movie. The film must be one of his best works on the screen.

Anweshippin Kandethum is a movie that attempts a new take on the genre of criminal thrillers in Malayalam Cinema. This film is the directorial debut of Darwin Kuriakose and he has done splendid work as a beginner. The film revolves around SI Anand, an honest officer whose character goes through many hardships to solve his cases. The character development is visible as the film progresses.

The screenplay and the script are written well enough to surprise the viewers and keep them guessing. The storytelling is quite simple and no extra twists are added. It falters when it comes to the execution part. Two parallel stories are introduced to the audience but it is difficult to keep track of both of them. It requires absolute attention on the audience’s side to grasp the story as it progresses.
